uhuh, how about just delete the drivers for the USB with Admin permissions or simply DL some freeware that locks out the USB without a password

cwhite is correct. Why bother with a lock cap on a USB device? It's usually in your possesion anyway. Be like my workplace and block any use of USB memory on the network unless authorized and cleared. My own PC doesn't need it as I am the only one that uses it and only with my own USBs. It's the "public" computers you gotta worry about.

I work in a public library and you may be surpised how many USBs are left at the computer stations. We keep them behind the desk hoping that the owners will return for them. You might be surprised as to how many are not picked up. Who knows what lurks behind our reference desk. We have not opened them to see what information is contained and we will not open them in the future. What is contained on them is none of our business. Could they hold the secret of the universe?

I work in corporate America and a device like this is certainly needed. We often get careless with our flashdrives and casual data "borrowing" / data leakage is a problem. When we use laptops we are required to keep them secured with a locking cable and must use Smart cards. The data is no less valuabe on a flash drive, therefore this device is certainly welcome. This little lock would however be even better if it include a hasp to allow it to be locked to something like your computer bag. This lock also provides visual evidence of compliance with information management guidelines
