Japan News and Discussion
When it comes to snack foods, Japanese companies consistently cook up flavor combinations that would have the rest of the world running for the bathroom. Case in point: a new series of fruit- and veggie-inspired KitKats from Nestle. Some, like sour orange and mango pudding could, in theory, pair well with chocolate.
An “ume-shitake” flavored bar, spotted at our local convenience store in recent weeks, had us raising our eyebrows, but the latest offering really takes the, um, cake. Partnering with beverage company Itoen, the newest KitKat is a “vegetable-enriched” bar made with white chocolate plus apple and carrot flavorings. …Yum?

f.e. the indian cuisine has sweet carrot, and don't forget carrotcake, so that's not that much of a surprise

KitKat in Japan never ceases to amaze me. Most of them are pretty god. Let's see, what's in my freezer...Oh, look! Apple Vinegar KitKat and, uh, looks like Ume Soda KitKat. Full marks for creativity.

Is this an experiment in new flavouring methods or is it for health purposes? You have to cover the veggies with chocolate before people will eat it? Thanks for nothing!
@Bambigirl,
They can make seafood flavoured ice cream, but I don't have to eat it. Last thing I need is some crunchy tobiko caught between my teeth! Oh, and picking out eel bones make me cringe!!!

Instead of making something people like they sell their products based on people will try something once and recycle.

I wonder if they have kitkats with tomato and purple cabbage. That would be interesting.

KitKat really have done some weird and wonderful flavours, haven't they? Apple and carrot isn't a bad combination, but ume and shiitake doesn't appeal, much as I love ume.
