1.3MP web camera
TOKYO —
From Elecom comes four new series of “one-shot connection” web cameras that can be used immediately by simply connecting to a USB 2.0 port on your computer. There are two types that come with either a 1.3MP or 2MP camera and have a built-in microphone, so they can be used with your speakers to enjoy video chatting with multiple people without having to worry about wearing a microphone.
Both types of cameras are “one-shot connection” types, meaning that they meet USB 2.0 UVC standards and can be used by simply plugging into a PC’s USB port – no need to install proprietary drivers. Both units are equipped with an internal microphone, so when paired up with your computer speakers, you can video chat without needing to wear a microphone. These models are optimal for chatting with multiple people in front of the camera at the same time.
Each type also has the option to include an earphone/microphone, so you can choose whichever type that fits your needs. Using the earphone/microphone maintains a certain level of privacy when chatting with someone, because their voice cannot be heard by those around you. Surrounding noise will also not become bothersome, so you can focus on your conversation and enjoy talking with your loved ones or friends as much as you like.
The UCAM-C0113FB and UCAM-C0113FE series are equipped with a 1.3 megapixel 1/6 inch CMOS sensor that easily reproduces beautiful video. The UCAM-C0220FB and UCAM-C0220FE series offer a high quality, 2 megapixel 1/5 inch CMOS sensor that delivers magnificent video reproduction from corner to corner. Both series are not only supported on the Windows platform, but Mac OS X (10.6 - 10.6.8, 10.7 - 10.7.3) and PlayStation®3 as well – all without special drivers. They also feature a convenient multi-stand, so the camera can be setup on top of a laptop or LCD display, or set horizontally on a desktop. They also use a ball-joint so you can point the camera at any angle or in any direction you like.

My 5 year old logitek web cam has been doing that for years. Nothing new here.

Any laptop already has all that built-in.

Would it be illegal to plug this into my coworkers computer without their knowledge and access it remotely.
What specific law would I be breaking?

Dunno where or what laptops ya guys buy, but any manufacturer we've heard of has it. Even my cheapo $200 netbook has all that. Those webcams cost as low as $10. If the laptop manufacturer won't even spare that much, I'd probably avoid them.
(For the record, one computer retailer website I frequent is NewEgg.com)

The only new part I can see is that it doesn't need any special drivers. Probably because it's nothing special.

Well he means the Mac Pro desktop which obviously doesn't have any of those things and neither does the Mac Mini.
Stalking laws.

So, it's not ready for MacOS 10.7.4 yet?
Or, 10.8 (Mountain Lion) which is due out next week?

Does the Mac Pro and Mac Mini really have cameras, speakers and "everything built in"?
