High-tech washer/dryer

High-tech washer/dryer

This combination washer/dryer from Toshiba fights bacteria and unpleasant odors by dissolving silver ion particles into the washing basin. The small, high-pressure water nozzle also blasts grime off your clothes in less time than a standard washer. A sensor detects the size of the laundry load and adjusts wash time and water amount accordingly with its new “eco mode.”

Price: About 130,000 yen.

Where do the silver ion particles come from? Can you see them? How do you know they're really there? Can you get more when they run out?

Great technology. I wonder if they make them without the dryer. Don't like dryers very much and the cost would come down too.

Why is the machine upside down in this photo? Or will people have to kneel to press the buttons?

Wonder if it'll turn your clothes blue, much like the weirdos ingest it?

so what happens to the silver ion particles after the clothes are washed? If they get rinsed down the drain, will they affect the necessary bacteriological function of the wastewater treatment plants? This was a major problem for printing companies using silver compounds in photo development processes, what assurance do the people have that this process is harmless and really beneficial? Or do the Japanese just blindly accept anything corporations foist upon them without question?

What if one or the other breaks? Then you are out of two machines.
