    Taa!

Sarge, I think it is "saa".

  • Sarge at 09:47 PM JST - 3rd August

Princess - Saa, is it? Whatever. Get ready to get annoyed! Tee hee!

I wonder how one can follow the ping pong game, the ball moves so quickly that it is invisible. I wonder which is more boring, ping pong or baseball. Good luck to Ai-chan, I hope she takes a medal but I think it will be hard for her to win against the queens of ping pong - the chineses girls.

    call me Ai

I honsetly hope that she falls flat on her face, loses every match, and ends up coming back to Japan and Waseda University in sheer disgrace. I usually do not cheer against an athlete so rabidly, but I fin Fukuhara's fist-pumo and "Saa!" after every won point to be totally unsportsmanlike, and her fake humility (which disappears when she plays) on TV to be the worst of hypocrisy. What's worse is that her coaches seem to encourage this, as I've seen other J-Table Tennis players do the same thing, and the J-Media thinks its "cute" in some deranged way, insomuch that it is their pitch-lne for her.

This post may offend a lot of people, especially with my opening words on how I hope she loses, loses, and loses again, but that's my perception of her. She's cocky, arrogant, a terrible sportswoman, and is in desperate need of an attitude asjustment, one I hope she gets in Beijing...

    Blue_Tiger - very well put

Blue Tiger - do not you think you are too kibishii? There are many athletes who are arrogant, not only Ai Fukuhara...at least she does not swear as Ichiro.

  • Blue_Tiger at 01:38 PM JST - 4th August

ExPrinceska - At least Ichiro has the "audacity" to congratulate his teammates and coaches when he's interviewed. Fukuhara, when she is interviewed after any of her matches, doesn't even bother to mention there WAS an opponent, much less a contest. And as I said above, her "Saa!" and fist-pump is a sure sign of being a terrible sportsperson. She never takes defeat well, not even bothering to have an interview after a defeat, and when she wins, it is all about her, even though she uses many and often humble words, and never really about her coaches, her fans, or the people who supported her along the way. Even in a test match awhile back with the newly-crowned up-and-coming-phenom (who's like 15 or 16), which Fukuhara won, she talked and rambled on mostly about herself, and when she was asked about the youngster, she said, "She's okay," then went on more about herself and her training.

I can scarcely say that there is no other athlete at the Beijing Games that I hope garners more humiliation than I hope Fukuhara garners (Though Koji Murofushi and Kyoko Hamaguchi, though, in the latter's case, it isn't that I think her an annoyance so much as I think her Dad, "The Animal" Hamaguchi; in the former, I think he's been a bit arrogant ever since being awarded the gold in athens, after the bogus surprise drug test in Czech for the real gold medal winner, and his refusal to do so). I don't want her to get hurt, but I do hope that she gets the you-know-what pasted right out of her, and she gets sent back home packing. What would be poetic justice is if she tests positive for some banned substance, and is sent home in shame. Sorry to be so anti-Fukuhara, but from what I've seen of her, there are few athletes in the world today that have such a pathetic in-competition attitude and false demeanor afterwards...

Blue Tiger, I agree with you! I feel like throwing up every time I watch her on TV (really).

  • Blue_Tiger at 02:36 PM JST - 4th August

mcs1972 - every time I see her on TV, I change the channel. Thank you for the encouragement....

Blue Tiger, maybe you are attracted to Ai-chan after all. People say there is a thin line between love and hatred.

  • Sarge at 07:34 AM JST - 5th August

Even more annoying than Ai-chan is that annoying song they sing on every Olympic news story... grrrr!

  • ExPrinceska at 10:34 AM JST - 5th August

Sarge, you mean Ponyo Ponyo or?

  • Blue_Tiger at 07:54 PM JST - 10th August

ExPrineska - Love it is not. I don't hate her, either, just her attitude.
