"Japan focused on winning a medal in the relays, perfected the handoff and took it to the line. Legally."

Exactly!

Hats off to Japan. They've shown all of the speedsters out there once again the value of good teamwork.

“I couldn’t even shed a tear I was so shocked,” said Gay, who has been around for many of the most recent failures. “I couldn’t even cry. Damn, bad luck again. It’s weird. I don’t get it.”

The US relay team needs to go back to the drawing board. Maybe study what the Japanese team is doing.

They could learn from their own 4x100m women's team (gold)

Or even their own 4x400m men's (gold) and women's teams (gold)

All of their other relay teams won gold - they're the only ones who can't
