I can't find the news article anymore, but didn't someone on the Japanese side (the coach) say that they'd beaten NZ 6-0 recently and they were confident of a similar score? Well, at one point, they were trailing 0-2. Very lucky indeed, helped by a penalty.
I really do wish that some of those people would stop making wild claims. Sometimes, a simple, boring gambarimasu will suffice. No shame in saying you'll try your best. For Kitajima's sake, he'd better win the gold. He said he won't come back without the gold. Permanent Chinese residency?
And what did Hoshino say about the team's prospects at baseball?
Did ANYONE see the foul that gave the Kiwis a PK? I watched it several times, and I couldn't see anything. The slow motion showed that the player who received a yellow card was standing in the middle of the penalty area, and no one was around her. Anyone see the foul?
Japan was lucky. Ohno had several good chances, but couldn't put it in the net. I think Japan also may have gone into the game a little over-confident. The coach seemed to be resting some of their better players, like Arakawa the queen of afro. I am glad they at least got by with a tie.

Looking at games organisation in women's soccer opener.
Looks like, games, will be great to watch, just like women's soccer opener matches.
Don't mess with 2008 olympics/IOC.

one japanese player jumped away from the ball giving a Kiwi player the change to score. That was stupid!
