So sad. Keiji Suzuki was my favourite because I liked him as a man and as an athlete. He looked so strong, confident and with so nice muscled body, I could not imagine he would lose. It is a pity, but sometimes surprises happen. I hope he does not give up and continue competing in judo. He is one great judoka, I love his performance in Athenes, he is so skillful and technical! I am so sad.

The broadcast coverage is so limited. What's happening to equestrian, diving, boxing, etc...?

Suzuki huh? two time world champ, defending Olympic champ and thumped in the first round by ippon by a Mongolian...hmm, a Japanese getting owned by a Mongolian, that reminds me of......

That must be the biggest disappointment so far for the Judo team, it would be like Kitajima getting knocked out it the swimming heats.

@ sappquest. To see those sports, torrents are your friends.

Just watched the bout. Suzuki was asleep! touchy feely gi-tugging passive judo while the mongolian was attacking non-stop. He has reason to be very disappointed with that effort.

When you are the strongest in Japan, it's hard to prepare for equals. Japan is no longer the only country that has strong judo players. Time to have Japanese go overseas from time to time to learn new techniques, just like the westerners do coming here.

Thanks Suzuki for being a weakling this time. We won our first gold medal in Mongolian olympic history! In addition to sumo we have started robbing Judo medals from Japan. The Mongolian Age is coming!

mongolian tuvshinbayar was best so he won gold not because keiji suzuki was weak and unfortunate this time... anyway we mongolians proved mongolians are stronger than many other countries not only japanese physically... i know japan brain is huge... but if you compare the population we are only 2.5 million and got one gold and one silver that means US must win 100 gold and 100 silver, Japan 50 gold and 50 silver - to catch us... so definitely US is the best in the Olympics when you count Chinese population ... Japan GO AHEAD NEXT TIME! ... judo is your intellectual and culture creature so prove the world you are OWNER??!!!

Japan has done more than fine in Judo thusfar, and in fact, if you wiped Judo from the record Japan would basically have ZERO medals, except of course for the wicked performances by Kitajima in swimming. My point is, while not the medal haul your average Japanese was expecting, they did just fine in judo. Kudos to them and their athletes!
