North Korean shooter stripped of medals for doping offense

BEIJING —

North Korean shooter Kim Jong Su has been stripped of the silver and bronze medals he took at the Beijing Games after testing positive for a banned substance, the International Olympic Committee said Friday. Kim is the first athlete at these Games to be stripped of a medal.

The IOC also said Vietnamese female gymnast Do Thi Ngan Thuong has also failed a drug test and has been kicked out of the Games along with Kim, who took the silver in the men’s 50-meter pistol and bronze in the 10-meter air pistol event. In other news, it was also announced that Spanish cyclist Maria Isabel Moreno had been excluded from the Games after failing an out-of-competition doping test conducted before the opening of the Games.

Doping for shooting? What 'performance' does the banned substance enhance for a shooter!? Superhuman eyesight? Some of these shooters are fat, out of shape, wearing blue jeans, etc. Sorry but how shooting is considered an Olympic 'sport' and how these shooters are considered athletes is beyond me...

A banned substance for shooting could be any number of depressants or stimulants which would allow the individual greater muscle control and control over their nerves. One of the primary traits of a good shooter is the ability to remain completely still and have perfect breathing control for each shot. Certainly any number of illicit drugs could assist in "calming", right?

Apsara is correct, it also decreases the heart rate which can be useful in precision sports like shooting.

Use of drugs, dope, other substance in sport will go up, as olympic medal rewards in cash get bigger.

    Dope and Cash go together.

The poppy fields of afghanistan and coca cocaine fields of South America grow because the cash income is growing.

Drugs,Dope,Cocaine, Opiuim industry just get bigger because of big cash in it, makes it grow.

People need a new drugs/dope all the time, this is culture we have made in confused dope/cash world of today.
