Rio readies for worst as terror threat hangs over Olympics

I hope all are safe. The world is a mess. I feel safest here in Japan.

I'd worry more about violent crime when they aren't busy competing. And God help any athletes who have to compete in that filthy water venue.

Regarding Rio de Janeiro, terrorism is by far the least of the problem. Both athletes and tourists are in fact under the threat of not one big incident by terrorists but thousands of minor incidents (mostly mugging and even rape) in a city taken by criminals all around. It may sound an exaggeration for who never had the misfortune of visit (or being demoted to a branch in) Brazil but that's the sad truth.
