What?? I thought 'Ai-Chan' was the world's greatest table-tennis player.... or am I just listening to the Japanese media a bit too much? Anyway, best of luck... I love it when these two countries go at it.
Talking about the fist-pumping.......look at any table tennis game.......EVERY player is doing the same. Seems it's related to playing table tennis....not to japan only.
Of course a lot of players fist-pump...perhaps if you were unbiased(like me), you would see the ear-splitting SAA(s) & weird stares (which you conveniently have no opinion) are over the top. Of course, I'm refering to the サァ〜ッ queen and her sidekick "if looks could kill" Hirano chan.
The so-called ear-splitting Saaa's are Japanese indeed. Others have an ear-splitting "yeaaah" or an "iiihhhhh" or "wwhhoooo". They all scream after getting a point...each one of them.
Table tennis is a weird sport. Hirano? She showed self-confidence. Too bad here opponents were to weak to look through it.
WOW
Japan seems to have been totally humbled in their rematch with Korea for the bronze.
I expected a tight match, a 5 set thriller. Instead, I saw a scared Japanese team annihilated.

The Japanese media knows that Ai-chan is ranked 13th, so it's a bit exaggerated to say they think she's the best in the world.
"or am I just listening to the Japanese media a bit too much?"
I don't think so.....because you're not really a big fan of them.
Then.....where did you hear Ai-chan is the world's greatest table tennis player? In your dreams?

Japan gave Korea a scare in their first match. I think that the fist-pumping, weird stares & SAA(s) are way over the top. Korea for the Bronze.

Do you think congratulations are in order for Japan, rajakumar, after getting trounced by South Korea in the bronze medal matches?
Congratulations to South Korea on earning the bronze medal with a dominant performance over Japan!
