The bronze medal game between the Aussies and Japan just finished, with Japan coming out on top 4-3 after 12 innings, so Japan will get one more crack at the United States in the gold medal game.

Japan's pitcher, Yukiko Ueno, is like an unbreakable machine. She pitched two games in one day, both well into overtime, with no relief pitcher in either game and pitched solid through both games.

It doesn't make sense that they're eliminating baseball and softball, while introducing dirt bikes as an Olympic sport.

Ueno was incredible. What will Japan have left for the gold medal game? Kind of strange format they're using. The U.S. could possibly lose the Gold medal to a team they demolished twice already.

Great to see the Americans doing so well at these Olympics. Contrary to what a variety of the American bashers stationed here at Japantoday have to say, the Americans are once again going to threaten the 100 medal barrier, this inspite of early predictions that 70-80 would be adequate. But just looking at all the American teams still in thehunt for "team" medals, well 90 is almost a sure bet. On the downside, it's too bad that organizers have once again put together a tournement where one team must beat another consecutively to win the gold. There is no reason why the USA team should have to play Japan again, they have already beaten them ! I don't see sprinters, pole vaulters, or gymnasts getting second chances to defeat the competition, so why should Japan get another shot at the USA ?

Although Japan did win against Australia it was a laborious game without any charm and feel sorry for Ueno.

These sports aren't even related to baseball. In these sports, you DO get second chances. In fact, it's the SECOND go that counts, the first one being called the preliminary rounds (as in gymnastics). Same with the 100m. You go through several rounds, and it doesn't matter how fast you run in the first rounds. If you can't beat everyone again in the finals, you don't get the gold.

the Americans are once again going to threaten the 100 medal barrier

Maybe, maybe not. But there'll be an even spread across the medal types....unlike China. As I said, nothing against Americans. It's just people like you.

sorry, not baseball. I meant softball (though they're both the same to me).

    Ah yes, "people like you".

"In these sports, you DO get second chances."

Really ? So when does the USA womens gymnastics team get another crack at China and all those underage kids ? And Pukey2 let me tell you about people like me. When the Americans are within 10 of 100 medals, you can feel free to eat your words. Oh and BTW, the US won another medal tonight, the total is now 80 ! And I know of 7 US teams that are already in the medal round and a good half dozen ready to be taken on the track. Honestly now, I don't have anything against you non-Americans, it's just people like you !
