Just another reason on a very long list why the decision to hold a World Cup in Qatar was mind-blowingly stupid.

The FIFA crooks should explain why a summer world cup cannot be held in Qatar when they previously claimed all the stadia would be air conditioned.

I suppose "stupid" is one word for it.

Others words spring to mind to describe how the committee almost unaminously chose a country with no soccer history, no infrastructure, no tourist attractions, totally unsuitable weather, but with pots and pots of cash.

“I honestly and privately just don’t believe that anybody within FIFA cares about us,” said FIS chief Gian Franco Kasper as skiing’s own World Cup season got underway"

Privately? Anyway, you're right.

Too much sport worldwide?

All of the authorities screaming for a slice of the golden pie; sponsorship, TV rights, advertising, spectators expenditure and ticket money; committee members looking out for themselves (and the legendary brown envelopes) as they choose the host country; why, some even remember there is a game or sport being played!

I don't understand why this isn't under sports. In any case, if the FIFA interferes with the Olympics, then the IOC should drop Soccer from the Summer Games.

It certainly was a bizarre choice awarding the World Cup to Qatar. Imagine the cost (and waste) of air conditioning huge stadiums when it is up to 50 degrees C (122 degrees F) outside. Unbelievable. However this turns out it is, and will be, a huge embarrassment to FIFA.
