Angels & Demons

Angels & Demons

From left: “Angels & Demons” director Ron Howard, 55, American actor Tom Hanks, 52, and Israeli actress Ayelet Zurer, 39, meet the press in Tokyo on Thursday. Referring to the backlash from the Vatican and religious fundamentalists over the film version of Dan Brown’s book, Howard says the world needs both faith and science. Both he and Hanks urged everyone not to accept at face value rigid dogma from governments and religions, but use their intellect to question everything. “Angels & Demons” opens in Japan on May 15.

Ron Howard - I remember him when he was in Happy Days with Fonzie.

I'm glad he still has hair. :-)

I was just watching "Happy Days" on DVD this week. Now look at Richie Cunningham. Hanks has a strange forced sort of smile. He's probably jet-lagged and thinking "Let's get this over with, so I can go back to my room and have a drink."

Go further back and watch Opie on the Andy Griffith Show. I am currently listening to the audiobook "Angels and Demons" and it is pretty good. It is my first audiobook, and it sure beats trying to read while standing up in a crowded bus! Looking forward to seeing the movie.

From the look on Hanks's face, I think he has just pulled something, and it's not the Israeli actress next to him.

Read the book flying to Hawaii a couple years back. Vowed to never again arrive at an airport w/o something from my library. Easy to see though why Dan Brown is so popular among the MTV kiddies on US campuses.

You've jumped the shark, my friend. ;)

Howard says the world needs both faith and science.

Opie steers his boat safely down the center . . .

Tom Hanks hasn't make a good film since Big (or Splash - whichever one came first)

Private Ryan, Green Mile and Road to Perdition. Though I imagine you'd be better off with Splash

Uhm, I would like to see this movie, maybe is better than the first one.

I first saw him on Bosom Buddies on TV. How time flies.

Yeah. Sloppy historical research, sensationalisms and inaccuracies all over the Da Vinci Code are the way to go. DVC by the way is an "intellectual" novel. What Liberal BS! Read Umberto Eco instead.

    Wheelie,

you could be talking about the bible since it too is a work of fiction.

The religious backlash was just a publicity stunt. They need some sort of controversy to prep their talk about the film (the cast/crew are obviously making the rounds).
