Foreign and trade ministers from the 21-member Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) are holding talks on creating a vast free trade area that would link the world’s three biggest economies—the United States, China and Japan—and some of its fastest-growing emerging markets.

Pretty pointless patrolling the APEC venue if you are not stopping people on the street for ID checks and bag checks. The bus across the road could have a bomb in it and there are no roadchecks.

I was around there on Tuesday and there were cops walking and driving cars and vans all over the place but no one was checking people or vehicles. I did see two cops help a handicapped man cross the street.

@Northlondon - I do live around there, and I have been stopped and checked numerous times, on foot and in a car. Buses are being spot checked. It is wall to wall police.

As I hardly set foot in Boke-hama, I have to rely on 'Picture Of The Day', which shows me nothing about security. Just a cop going for a stroll in the sun. If this place is the security check nightmare that everyone is preaching to me about here, then we need a more relevant and topical picture.
