Quite good really? Need the water on the cigarette and the 'squash' as in 'squash one with yer foot' and it'd be perfect!

ALL tobacco advertising should be banned and tobacco should be illegal!

If the Japanese want to smoke, that's their business.

I don't wanna micro-manage the simple pleasures of foreigners.

It's legal in my country for those of age and should remain so.

or is it 'liquification'? anyhow it's unlikely that Japan Tobacco or any other Tobacco giants will face bankruptcy anytime soon.

Japan in 2010 is USA in 1985--- marketing, economy, life and tobacco use. Always 25 years behind big bro.

Kore ga sukamen? What exactly is "sukamen"???

Yes, tobacco advertising should be banned but it would be impossible and very ill davised to ban tobacco outright. Remember the opportunities prohibition gave the Mafia? The Yakuza would have a field day.

If the Japanese want to smoke, that's their business.

It should be prohibitevly expensive to smoke. Fags are WAY too cheap in Japan.

    What exactly is "sukamen"?

short for sukasshu mensoru ("squash menthol" whatever that is)

Disillusioned, your name goes well with your comment. While we're at it, let's get everyone to ban alcohol too, saw how great that worked in America. Gloobey, the price is way too cheap, it's so much easier to kick a nasty habit when you can't afford it.

Squash menthol would probably be the same as the "Camel Crush" posters in America. Regular smoke at first, then squeeze it and it changes to menthol flavor.

Smokers suck. No, really, they do.

What a freaky poster. The person that designed this poster must have been high on drugs at the time of it`s making.

Well, fags are gonna go up in price by over a 100 yen pretty soon.

Those of us who have been around a while remember that Japan Tabaco used to run a hospital in Minato ward called the Senbai Byouin ("Monopoly Hospital"). They could make money getting people sick and make money trying to cure them. They were getting it both ways. The hospital was pretty mismanaged (maybe it got stuck in hypocracy) and they sold it to a university.

Menthol cigarettes are popular in tobacco industry for various reasons.

Smoker gets a feeling of coolness created by menthol and inhales more deeply, holds the smoke for a longer time. Higher amount of nicotine enters the bloodstream.

Menthol inhibits nicotine metabolism and enhance systemic nicotine exposure.

The flavor is attractive for the underage first-time smokers.

In short, menthol cigarettes create a more powerful addiction and they are more harmful than non-menthol cigarettes.

Currently FDA is considering to ban the sales of menthol cigarettes in US as they are more addictive and the target group are African -Americans and the young people.

FDA has already banned flavored tobacco last year.

Thanks. It looks like another experimental type of cigarette. Nice poster though...

I haven't seen any tobaccy commercials at all in the US anymore. The fact they're still being advertised like this in Japan shows how far behind Japan really is in public health education.

Ah wait, there is a new commercial on TV for the "smokeless" cigarette which allows people who habitually smoke to have a (presumably)non-toxic vapor but without the annoyance of second-hand smoke bothering others, but I don't know if it goes over well with smokers since they do it more for their nicotine kick and "flavor" they get from the real thing.
