Booth babes pose at the Tokyo Game Show which opened at Makuhari Messe in Chiba Prefecture on Thursday. More than 190 companies and organizations, including 34 exhibitors from overseas, are taking part in the show that runs through Sunday. The major drawcards are expected to be Sony’s new portable game console and numerous game titles for Android-based smartphones. Mobile game site operator Gree Inc is taking part for the first time, while Nintendo is absent. Saturday and Sunday are open to the public.

Chills go down my spine at the thought of my daughter growing up to be one of these ‘booth babes’ — or a trade show companion, cigarette promotion girl, hostess club worker, celebrity idol (AV or otherwise), or any other of the plethora of dead-end, frivolous career opportunities ever available to young women in Japan. (But beats the hell the salary men have to endure, I suppose.)

Oh, don't be such a sour puss! If "JT is so quick to post the most pervert picture on the first page" why don't you tell me when the last 'pervert' picture was? The last week of pics has been entirely devoid of 'pervert' pics (or pics that just upset you because they appeal to men) save possibly Miss Universe Japan, if you can argue that fits your criteria.
Let's face it, sex sells -- to BOTH sexes. There have been picture of men as well of late where women ogle and talk about physical appearance, and lest we forget many a female poster's comments during World Cup were solely about how good looking the men were. In fact, a certain 'LoveJapan's entire reason for liking a team was based on looks (I believe Ukraine was her 'favourite'). It doesn't only appeal to 'otakus and perverts', it appeals to gamers, and probably most heterosexual men.
I don't think any of these women is particularly stunning, especially given some of the outfits, but they're not at all bad to look at, and if I were to attend the event you'd bet I'd be looking plenty. At least at a games show, unlike a car show with the Race Queens, people can interact more with the women (I'm assuming) and afford to buy the products (games, not the ladies).

A lot of them are university students just making a bit of extra cash. I wouldn't mind my daughter doing it, if she wanted, as long as she didn't let it interfere with her school work. Wouldn't want her flogging cigarettes though....

spidapig24; The poblem is this. The Tokyo ame show brings in a lot of foreign tourists as it is known as the biggest and the best. People who may want to come to Japan may look at sites like this and conclude that the foreigenrs there are just interested in young girls scantily dressed. This event could show some interesting gaming pics but goes to the bottom of the barrel.
sillygirl; I agree, eating disorders are a big hting in Japan and a bit of a taboo subject.
Foxie, Japan is known as a mans society and this shows in the J media and in photos like these.

There are plenty of young western women under weight, like the fashion shows. They actually look alright to me. At a western car show the girls would have a lot more breast and behind sticking out.
I have no problems with the Tokyo Game Show or the Anime Show or any of them.........

I think a man could see a woman as a sex object regardless of the amount of clothing they wear. Been down to the beach this summer? You'll see much more flesh there. Tokyo game show is a massive event showcasing new products yet we only see photos of scantily clad women.

I have such scantily clad-style outfits, long boots, tons of sensual lingerie, including corsets, garters, etc. I'm a vivid collector of those. but you see, only Mr.BlueWitch holds the key to my kingdom. This is only for his pleasure. Having said that, now you know why I wouldn't dress like this in public. The best spectator is at home. (^_^)

Steve, there are plenty of reports and articles, with photo's of the products, about what is on show and available in the coming months from the Game Show.
People go to the Game Show for the products not for the girls.

The games industry is massive,and this show promotes the games and tech.Showing the girls mainly tells us about the main interests of the Japan Today staff.Or maybe showing an image of just one companies game would be favouritism.
The real reason I think is that JT knows exactly what images get us all worked up and posting,and that just keeps the forum alive and healthy,speaking of which I think the two Capcaom girls look great ^v^

Has anyone complaining about these girls seen a Pirelli calendar or been to a US Lowrider convention? This isn't a Japan issue and I believe it is worse overseas. Forget the insults of the girls, why not target the people who go to ogle?
