Everything for food and goods of the New Year holidays is ready now! All we have to do is wait for a chance to eat it out.

How come people who sell fish are fishmongers, but people who sell meat are butchers and not meatmongers?

Hands down the absolute worst place in Japan to be around New Year's. You have never seen crowds like it!

Good question. Probably because the original meaning of "meat" was "food" or "meal"; "food monger" wouldn't have been a very useful clue to what was being sold.
There was a word "flesh monger", but that referred to pimps....

Probably because butuchers involve cutting into small pieces that do not look like anything original shape.

Costco japan, which is supposed to be a discount store, has in the last few years raised their prices so much that i would not be suprised if they went out of business soon. anything they sell can be found lower priced in japan. the prices have tripled and quadrupled over the last 4 years, they are price gouging and they lost their customer base of store owners in japan. listen to the shoppers as you walk through the aisles, all they are saying is takai, takai, takai. many of their previously best selling items are no loger available because they raised prices so much that they are no longer selling and they removed the items. most tiems are constantly out of stock. i have to call them on the phone to make sure items are in stock before going there.
