How do I feel? Angry! Lies and propaganda always make me angry!

Dangers? What dangers? Getting arrested? That one is totally made-up and unnecessary. And its called oppression. Poor lung health? Okay, that would be legit. But I would rather have MJ smoke filtered through a bong once a week than have to breathe all the car and factory exhaust I breath every single damned day.

And I don't even desire to smoke MJ cause I don't like its effects! I do however like its effects on the people around me. For example, they start seeing government and lobbyist lies for what they are!

Legitimizing and regulating the sale of marijuana would weaken the link between marijuana and the more dangerous drugs.

These guys are a hoot. I used to watch them on late night TV (can't remember the name of the program now to save my life....).

Nothing wrong with an Anti-Pot poster... there have been many of them all over the world, but I really don't think they stop anybody. Most initial use of weed happens with the group of kids one hangs out with. If you're in the group that does not play a lot of organized sports or study a lot... then you might have some extra time to experiment with other things. It really can come down to how much time one's parents have to keep their kids busy. That does not mean they won't go crazy once they hit college but it does lessen the chances.

What do I think about this ad? That it is hysterical, in the unique Japanese way.

What's the message by having these two on the poster? that smoking pot will turn you into guys like them? One of the most illogical and stupidest posters I've seen in a while.

Actually I would think the message is that you will wind up looking and dressing and posturing like them if you don't smoke. Which of course should send a great many youngsters out immediately in search of some weed...

Yes, I have seen plenty of guys who smoked week who had more muscle mass in one bicep than these two have in their whole bodies!

All brainwash and the usual political statement. Japan has no Pot problem !! Shabu would be a different issue; also alcohol. But who cares ? I do love Japan dearly but I fear for it´s future. Those zombies I see everyday on the train do not look like that they had a lovely spliff beforehand. So sad .......

It is is misinformation a pure hysteria (as imbued in this poster) that creates drug addicts. Pot, like any other stimulants can be dangerous if abused. I like a couple of martinis before dinner, but I won't drive afterwards. Likewise, you should not drive after doing pot, as studies have shown. I like my martinis, but if I consume a bottle of gin every night, I'm an alcoholic. While smoking pot does not automatically lead lo addiction to harder drugs being a "pot head" is not good for your head. Cigarettes cause lung cancer, among other things. Smoking pot also causes lung cancer. Inhaling smoke of any kind over long periods can cause cancer. (This is why women in traditional societies get lung cancer: they are exposed to cooking fires for long periods of time.)

All told, pot is not particularly dangerous, when compared to alcohol and various prescription drugs, that actually do kill people. But it is in no way a safe substance like cough drops. Like all drugs and simulates, pot needs to be discussed rationally.

the pharma industry in japan is a yakuza organization. the prices are brutally high for all medicines. everything is regulated absolutely. you can hardly buy aspirin over the counter. so i wonder NOT what the ad looks likes, but i rather wonder what profit is there for the j-pharma-yakuza with this?

At first glance, I thought it was a ballet class advertisement. Then I thought it was a longjohn advertisement.

Looks like an advertisement for some form of martial arts fighting...lightweight division of course.

And appealing to right-wing nationalist sentiment, no less. 民が薬物で苦しむ姿は見たくない！ So is that like, it's ok for foreigners to kurushimu? Or emphasizing that it comes from abroad and bad foreigners do bad things? (Of course not true, they've had hemp here for 1000s of yrs, and still do have specially licensed suppliers for Imperial family rites). Or could it be irony?? (Well, no, not likely).

It gave me a big laugh, but actually, it is awful on so many levels. sigh

This isn't a perfect world, but it is a proven fact that the best way to control something is to legalize it. If you don't agree, please think about what legalize means. It does not mean easy access and right for everyone. It does mean that mainstream society puts measures in place to control and allow access to as well as recouping some of these costs through taxes and people gaining jobs. This poster is funny, but reflects an antiquated way of thinking imo.

First off, this poster is quite ridiculous, I'm not sure what message it's trying to convey, I think that educating people properly on cannabis, it's dangerous elements and potential benefits, we'll be much better off but in my opinion, we don't need more drugs on the market, Tobacco and Alcohol are bad enough as it is.

better, far better by every rational argument to legalise and regulate. This is nothing more than state sponsored propaganda. There never was any reason to prohibit cannabis in the first place; as so many countries and states are discovering now in the 21st century. Again Japan has it backwards

I am not a marijuana user, but this is very funny and ignorant.

I am in Colorado where we treat marijuana weeds as a medicine. We are the first state legalizing a casual marijuana use also. We are doing just fine.

Get off the high horse people and put Japan and its time in perspective. Weed use in Japan is still in an infantile stage... probably less than 1% of the population smoke it. Therefore ignorance and stupid posters would be the norm. It would be akin to Reefer Madness and all the other stupid propaganda the U.S. Govt spewed decades ago. Heck... I'm a big fan of weed... think its less lethal than alcohol... but I think Japan is about 80 years behind the USA... and that may be a good thing.

I have an acquaintance with the family name Ohasa ( 大麻) whom I mistakenly called "Ms. Taima" the first time I met her after seeing the Kanji (with no furigana) on her name tag. Granted, it was my stupidity in never having encountered the name before but having had encountered the word for marijuana, and she was a good sport for laughing it off and correcting me. Some time later I asked her about the etymology of her name and she said she didn't know in detail (it's her married name), but that it was said to be related to textiles used for clothing or sleeping (ex. stuffing in pillows or what have you) that were good in summer. Something like that. Probably hemp. The point is that the characters, and more importantly, the plant, has a lot of positive points that are being overlooked in favor of fear-mongering and negativity.

How about posters discouraging the near weekly enkais instead? Far more dangerous -- and I do not smoke pot.

Just to add, Colorado made $2 million in taxes just from marijuana sales in just ONE month. This $2 million would have gone to drug traffickers and dealers if CO hadn't legalized. Its time to wake up to the truth!
