Hollywood star Tom Cruise has his picture taken with fans upon his arrival at Haneda Airport in Tokyo on Tuesday. Cruise, 50, spent 35 minutes with more than 400 fans in the arrival lobby. The star is here to promote his new film "Jack Reacher," which opens in Japan on Feb 1. He will attend the Japan premiere tomorrow night and then head home immediately after.

Say what you like about him, but he always spends time meeting and greeting his fans.

Probably neither here nor there but I'm curious why he arrived in Haneda instead of Narita. Maybe cause he came on a private jet?

What an amazing unique pose the girl is doing...

Best role he ever player was "Les Grossman" out of tropic thunder... Why? Because he wore a fat suit and was super surprisingly funny. He should do stuff like that more often.

Nod to fan's request, lean-in towards fan while minimizing body contact, tilt head toward fan, flash Hollywood smile at camera (wide grin with lower lip hiding lower teeth and upper lip revealing just the upper teeth and no gums), accept thanks from fan, repeat for 35 minutes.

I'm not picking on Cruise over that, though, because celebrities ALL do that same formula with the possible exception being how long they do it before departing. The "minimizing body contact" is probably a survival action to avoid claims of being groped.

er, the fan's claims of being groped.

Aren't there any pictures of Cruise standing in line at immigration?

Why would there be? The press and fans aren't allowed there, only passengers entering the country and immigration officials are allowed to be there.

Fadamor - Good answer, ha ha!

whiskey - What makes you say it's a bad movie? I know one person who saw it and enjoyed it, plus almost all the reviews at imdb say it's great, way better than anything Nicholas Cage has done, etc.

I have seen the film, and enjoyed it - great action, and quite funny. I am tempted to read one of the books, to see what Reacheer is like on paper. However, I found the efforts at sexual tension almost uncomfortable to watch - too awkward and unnecessary.

The only complaint I've heard about the film is that in the books Jack Reacher is supposed to be this huge hulking figure and Cruise is on the diminutive side. The reviews did say that, other than the physical shortcoming, Cruise puts in a good performance.

Nah, have you forgot Face Off, Con-air and The Rock? Still love them and would watch them over and over again.

Anyway, as usual Cruise put up good performance.

Cruise is apparently very talented with working a room in real life. Not just for his fans, but he's supposedly very nice to cast and crew. Another interesting oddity, Cruise does not read scripts. The studio arranges a full cast table read and based on the that he'll decide to do the movie or not.
