American actor Danny Glover, 61, and Japanese actress Saki Takaoka, 35, appear at the Foreign Correspondents’ Club of Japan in Tokyo on Thursday to introduce their new film “The Harimaya Bridge.” The film, of which Glover is executive prodcuer, follows an African-American man who visits Japan to retrieve a collection of paintings produced by his estranged son Mickey, who had been living in Kochi Prefecture until his untimely death. The film portrays the man’s prejudice against Japanese and discrimination by Japanese against foreigners in relation to World War II. Takaoka plays the role of Mickey’s girlfriend and Glover is Mickey’s uncle. The film is still being filmed in Kochi and is scheduled to be released in the summer of 2009.

If Saki Takaoka acts anywhere near as well as she looked during her idol heyday, then Danny Glover will have at least one part of a winning team for his film.

Hey! Sounds like a documentary, rather than a feature film.

Interesting, so I take it the Glover character is the one that is prejudiced against Japanese and visits his son's old haunts. Definitely sounds deep and heavy.
By the way, Mr. Glover is a true gentleman, say what you want about his outspoken political views, but my mom saw him one time at L.A. airport years ago and said he was a very nice man.
