I want a lot of people to take part in disaster drills , if possible.

What they don't tell them in the drill is, 'sit tight for two years, whilst bureacratic incompetance and corporate greed ensures that nothing is done'.

it would be even better if these same volunteers learned how to build a home and then built it, and then did it again and again. Habitat for Humanity style

Sounds and looks like more of a "minor mishap" drill. If a major earthquake hits Tokyo, sitting around in a protective blanket won't be of much use. And by all accounts we are long overdue the big one....... Time to be a proactive flyjin?

I hope they're not actually telling them those are "protective" blankets, because they look to me like Mylar thermal blankets, only designed to reduce body heat loss in cold weather conditions.

Reminds me of the "protective headgear" my grand kids were wearing when I picked them up at school right after the quake. They were wearing quilted fabric hoods. When I saw them I thought "What good will those be against tons of concrete collapsing on top of them".
