    We have miniature pincher at my parents home, very loving and intelligent creature. I would never ever do such thing to her.Why would they cover her ears on first place?!

    I can understand putting 'clothes' on a pet when it's cold, but this is just too much... and the glasses?? That's just plain tacky.

    Unfortunately, in Japan, the "cuter" you dress up your dog, the more "popular" you are... Dogs are NOT humans ! They deserve to be treated as dogs! In most "Gaikoku" countries, dogs are WELL treated, not left outside to shiver through the winter and swelter all summer. The English expression "it's a dog's life" fits most Japanese dogs very well but then we get the other extreme... people dressing up their dogs like... people ! Hello ! They are NOT people ! However they do deserve better than being left outside, all year round, tied up with neither water nor food within reach... In this country, most of the time it REALLY IS a "dog's life"... whichever way you look at it !

    In fact, it is my observation that the Japanese have a penchant for "unique" dogs of pure breeds, like blue Chihuahua's and half-white dachshund's. To make these unusual traits come about, people seriously inbreed the dogs in the hope improving the chances of these recessive traits coming about, because there is big business/money in Japan for such dogs.

    Most buyers want dogs as an accessory or fashion item they can show off like proud parents. They may simply be ignorant of the means - that prized dogs have to endure massive inbreeding such that selective breeding was affecting the general health and functionality of the breed.to achieve their looks. So he problem lies with both the consumers who keep buying these breeds and the unscrupulous/puppy mill type breeders that turn unnatural and misformed breeds into the status quo.

    It isn't only there of course that dogs are abandoned or put to sleep when they grow old and less fluffy. Japan just took an already present problem that exists everywhere and expanded upon it in the name of fashion and status.

    To be honest pure breeds do not generally appeal to me at all- IMHO, if someone wants a unique looking dog they should just get a mutt/crossbreed, and if they want a perfect looking dog they should just get a toy.

    The owner of the minipin requires a good sharp slap up the back of the head.

    A sweater on a short-haired breed during cold weather, a T-shirt to minimise shedding in public areas - these are understandable. But frilly skirts, straw hats, clunky necklaces and glasses fer kryin' out loud, are unforgivable. The body language on that little dog is pitiable. (Anyone who knows minipins knows they are little dogs only in terms of physical size - inside they're a match for a full-size dobie and should not be treated like dress-up dolls)

    if they want a perfect looking dog they should just get a toy.

    ALL dogs are perfect looking.
