Dolce Gusto
Picture of the Day ( 25 )
Actresses Mika Mifune, left, and Asaka Seto hold piccolo coffee makers at an event to promote Nestle’s Dolce Gusto blend at Nescafe Harajuku on Thursday. Seto, 33, is appearing in a TV commercial for the coffee, marking her comeback to show business after having a baby. She and Mifune, 27, the mother of a 4-year-old girl, took part in a talk show about the importance of coffee in their daily lives.

Thanks, JT, for covering this event. Unbelieveably, AP, Reuters, Mainichi, Yomiuri, et. al. all missed it. Without you and the Nestle cameras around, I wouldn't have known this was news!

Awesome picture, kitchen background could have enhanced the scene further.

Two exceptionally pretty ladies and morning coffee? Sweet!

Agree with kansaifun, kudos to JT for covering this pertinent, timely and relevant story. In addition, the background is an inspiring alternative (yet faithful interpretation) to the usual checkerboard backdrops typically seen in the "PR" genre of photos.

Actually, I saw this on two morning variety programs this morning, along with clips from other celebrities endorsing products at different events. These events are fodder for the variety programs, tabloids, fashion mags. It's not news but it is part of pop culture in Japan. Certainly a better photo than having to look at Prime Minister Kan or some other politician.

What the heck is Mifune wearing ? Is she pretending to be a Russian peasant girl ? That dress would make a nice table cloth or set of curtains perhaps.

@meloveulongtime: Amen, Asian girls with short hair look stunning. But no matter how cute these girls are, it will never make me drink coffee heh.

The regular chequered backdrops, digitally printed with sponsor logos and brand names are cheap to produce. A solid stand like this, will cost a lot more, with material, labour and delivery charges, and disposal/ recycle charges afterwards.
However, it is refreshing to see Nestle go to the extra effort, and provide a couple of attractive ladies, well-dressed for the show, as opposed to the usual over-acting badly dressed 'tarento'.

Thanks, smartacus. I am well aware of Japanese pop culture and "news;" that doesn't mean I just have to put up with it.
If enough people complain, we might be able to make a difference!
Fight the power!

What's that thing across Mifune's forhead?

LoveUSA, you should cheer up and acknowledge the wonderful Earthy tones and the smiles displayed here.
"What's that thing across Mifune's forehead?"
Never seen a braid before?

Hard to believe her Dad was Toshiro Mifune. They both look great.

Nestle/Krupp's answer to the immensely popular Philips Senseo pod coffeemaker. I'd like to try it.

at least it is colorful and cheerful. I like it. On the other hand Seto, 33, is dressed like obaasan in dark brown.

Seto would be hurt if she read this, you have no eye or fashion and do you actually know what 'obaasan' means?
