we are all waiting for you to enlighten us with some good hobbies not only for these poor souls but the rest of us here on JT, come on we are waiting!

Apparently in the early nineties these rockabilly blokes beat the crap out of a gaijin (Iranian man) and the police watched and did nothing about it. These guys are scum. And desperate for attention.
They're kind of like folk heroes now. They illegally park their rusting piece of sh*t pink Cadillac on Inokashira Dori with impunity.

These guys' shoes are an artform all to themselves.

You mean when they wrap them in duct tape when they wear a hole in them.. classic look that!

Nothing wrong with personal freedom and expressing some dance moves. But I've seen these idiots step out in the road alongside Yoyogi-koen and halt the busy weekend traffic whilst waiting for their sempai in the Cadillac to drive into the park entrance and park illegally. This skinny guy in leathers and a quiff stepped out into the middle of the road holding his hand out but my cabbie didn't give a damn and drove right past him. I get the impression they are all frustrated and busting for a fight with anyone.

Elvis guys I thought they were running for the PM job

I dig it. I think these guys are funny. I would hardly call them 'Elvis', though... more like Greasers in general.

love these guys!

I agree with 'dagbrown', they are not an "Elvis troupe". I think I was on the other side of this picture when it was taken b/c I was there Sunday watching these same guys, along with a woman who was doing interpretive dance and another group of 50s/60s poodle skirt dancers. While I admire them for doing what they want and letting loose, I also they think they look sort of like pained wannabes. But, oh well, what can you do?

I forgot to say this in my above comment. I don't understand why they make their shoes with black tape and paint. Can't they just buy pointed leather shoes instead of tape and attach a point to regular shoes?

Good luck to them. But they are definately more "Village People" than Elvis...especially the guy with the mo.

They look like they are having fun so i say, let them. There are people like this everyehere in the world but what makes Japanese (or Asians for that matter)stand out is that they really do not fit the whole look of cool so it's kind of cute to watch in my opinion.
ca1ic0cat at 02:38 AM JST - 9th September
they are fun to watch for about 5 minutes. But I wonder if it's the same bunch that I was seeing in the 80s?
I did like the blues duo that used to play there. I'll have to go back and see if they are still there.
Sigh, to be single again...

They look more like the man of Sakikage Otoko Juku from the Shonen Jump's comic series then Elvis himself. Yeah, the ducktail hairstyle resembles Elvis, but they're just trying to promote some good old whim and puns.

They don't look like Elvis in the least. He never wore his hair in a DA put a pomp.
Actually, they look like rejects from central casting for a Japanese homo-erotic vampire movie.
