Yeah, well show those Chinese and their worlds longest(2nd longest) bridge. We have the worlds fastest ferry and well show the technological prowess of Japan to the world!

Cool boat, but do they really have to paint silly cartoon characters and designs on it? Same with airliners, busses, trains, etc.

USN - Yeah, it would look a lot better with just a skull and crossbones flying on its mast. xD

Looks like some children did all the painting, only we know that is not so. Agree with any of you that this is one massive ferry.

The poor Greater Vancouver city to Vancouver Island people of B.C. Cdn., would be flabbergasted as the size of this ferry. It is outstanding paint job or not.

On the topic of motor vehicles crossing the Tsugaru strait, why doesn't JR introduce a service similar to the Eurotunnel shuttle trains that carry vehicles across the English Channel from Calais to Folkerstone vice versa instead of relying exclusively on ships?

BTW the ship's hull art is done by 7-year old Natsumi whom the ship is named after. Her earlier work includes the hull of Natachan Rera which has a tropical marine theme.

Only in Japan would a 7 year old be commissioned to do the artwork that will be the face of a nation's technological achievement!

Reminds me of the "stealth boat" in Tomorrow Never Dies....

Wonder how many whales it will take out on its crossings?

The ship would look cool ... if it didn't have the obligatory kakuwaruii paintings on the sides.

  • xpompey8 at 02:39 PM JST - 3rd May

Now that is what I call cool!

  • basashi at 03:57 PM JST - 3rd May

So where exactly was this manufactured? Which shipyard?

  • wanderlust at 06:32 PM JST - 3rd May

Nade by Incat, Hobart, Tasmania - Hull Number 64

  • Anomaly_Jr at 09:43 PM JST - 3rd May
