It was OK, I guess, until you factor in the never ending shouting by the police into the bullhorns. There was also the stupidity of putting up a barrier, so I could not get back to my seat/tarp, so I did like everyone else and went through the bushes two feet away. Of course it was very crowded and you can't run away from the heat/humidity...wait...if you can get a hotel room looking out to the bay, I'd say go. Otherwise, avoid it.

If you're still determined to go, get there before 5PM. Bring a tarp and tape to mark out your spot. You can then make a run for drinks and food and your spot will be fine.

The fireworks picture postd as piture of the day a few adays ago was much better. This is fine but nothing exceptional, neither in the sky, nor in the ground.

the key to watching fireworks is just marching by these stupid cops into closed areas completely ignoring them.

Fun Police are knocking on my window...it really defeats my reasoning why any force that wants to be respected would waste its time in the sole pursuit of stopping innocent taxpayers enjoying a festival. I came this close to chinning somebody.

Still - that's the way we're going. Aggrandise the perceived power of the petty officiary and he'll do whatever he's ordered to do.

It could have been a wonderful festival. It's a beautiful picture. Well done to the photographer for capturing a moment of happiness in these oppressive circumstances.
