If the cat jumps up and tries to eat those fish things, well that'll be the end of him and it's time to update the menu.

Animals 101 - the cat will let the chef do all the work and be rewarded for keeping its distance during prep.

Sorry I was sleeping. Course material boring at best.

How very true. I am the litter box and food person, DH is the person to sleep with, son is for cuddling to keep warm, we all have our jobs!

Now they show their gratitude for all this through gifts. I find a dead something on my doorstep at least once a week, and more like once a day in the spring.

The only thing better than sumibiyaki mackerel is sumibiyaki sanma.

    No, it's mine.

    Sarge,

I remember you're once mentioning your sister had 30 some cats. I asked my brother how he would react if I had that number and he hastily replied, "Well, I'd never visit you again." No worries, one is all I can cope with given her hunting proclivities.

Betzee - Wow, you have a good memory! Actually, I never did visit my sister again at that house where she had the 30 some cats ( no exaggeration ). She eventually moved, leaving most of them behind.

I'll betcha that cat watching the mackerel is good at batting mice.

When I lived in LA which, owing to the warm weather, has a terrible feral cat problem, one day a mama cat was in the process of moving her two kittens when I came across them under my car. Over her strenuous objections, I put them (and her) in my house and went off to do whatever I was going out to do. When I got home it took me a while to find them; she'd carried them into a closet.

Though she came and went, I kept them inside and they were socialized to human care and eventually I found homes for them, aided by the fact they had been born in the off-season. But I can't imagine having to place 30!

    I believe Cleo is correct!

    I was correct first!

    Sarge

BlackFlag - Nah, you merely made a suggestion. Good suggestion, I'll admit! But Cleo was first to point out that the fish in the photo are sanma.

It's OK BlackFlag, you can have all three if you like. They're dead anyways.

Fish get lice, but not nits (as far as I know)

Actually... that's my cat and the original text message I sent through to the JT editor was, "Last BBQ of the year... Sanma fish!! Oishii!!!"
