She chose well. That kitsune mask does have a feminine quality.

"Another Japanese addicted to their mobile communications device. How many does that make -- 95 million and counting?"

Hardly a "Japanese" thing, considered most places I have travelled in Europe, and Asia (Japan 7x times for long period). Japanese uses their mobile device a lot less than the average Brit (I'm British). During commuting on train, or being with friends.

The Japanese fox mask is a product of two streams of Japanese tradition and culture, the mythic and the social. The "kitsune" is traditionally considered a magical beast capable of physical shape shifting and supernatural disguise. In the world of anime, the "kyubi kitune" appears in Hype Police and Supergal as a transforming fox with power and is a culturally ingrained element of Japanese culture. Foxes are a significant element in Japanese folklore and 80 different styles of Noh masks are used in Noh theater. True Noh masks are individual, handcrafted works of art made by master Japanese master craftsmen. As a element of traditional Japanese culture, "omen", masks are a common staple of festivals and used often for children's prizes as well as novelty items for sale during community festivals.

Still pretty unusual for a Japanese person to do this while sitting alone. I'd say she was with someone who was away when the picture was taken.
