Aya Sugimoto

Aya Sugimoto

Celebrity Aya Sugimoto, 40, takes part in an anti-fur campaign by the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals Asia Pacific (PETA) in Tokyo on Wednesday afternoon. Her photo is scheduled to be used in PETA’s upcoming advertising campaign in Japan, according to Jason Baker, director of PETA. Sugimoto said, “When I think of those poor animals, it’s no big deal for me to be naked in an ad. A woman can be gorgeous without real fur.” Asked about leather products, she said she still continues to buy them because “leather production is different from fur production.” However, Sugimoto said she has never visited fur production facilities but had seen photos and movies of them on the Internet.

Japanese women age so gracefully. Aya's great, but not that much different from many (most?) Japanese women in their 40s.

Whatever she is selling I am buying!

    SHAZZAZIM!

  • 0

    serindipity

But, can she cook and does her father own a brewery? I'm sure this ad will receive a lot of attention, although I fear the point of the advertising will be replaced by another point.

  • 0

    cleo

Good to see a nice-looking lady who doesn't think she looks better draped in tortured dead bodies.

    Go Aya!

  • 0

    Kwaabish

Yes, if more people would rather be naked.... then MORE FUR!!!

  • 0

  • 0

No fur? Unfortunately we can't tell from this shot.

Haha! I was thinking the very same thang! And she's got a nice rack to boot!! Or should I say "bootie!" She was one of those "Japanese Boobie talents" in her younger days.

    Down boy!!

    1. 40 is beautiful.

    2. Taro Fujimoto has a great job.

I have a question. Is Aya also a vegetarian?

  • 0

    TeruSensei

I have to say I'd rather fur than go naked.

Card size is a little generous. Could have used a business card and it would have covered everything.

I don't know why I didn't succeed in the photography career. Damn. She's 40... I wanna hear her message.

  • 0

Too old; leave it to the 20's girls...

  • 0

    WilliB

She certainly looks better at 40 than any of the other PETA babes will at that age!

  • 0

I am not sure Sugimoto Aya is the right choice for this type of advertisment. I mean I love her and think she is one of the sexiest women alive, but who has not seen her naked?

For me they should use somebody who people would not expect to go naked, for example, any one of the myriad of talento that have an ultra cute, squeaky clean image. If they had done that they would got even moe people talking.

Though I must admit that right now Aya seems to be doing alright on that front, so what do I know?

  • 0

Not many 40 year old Japanese women do look 40. Viva Japan. I adore women, not girls.

  • 0

    OssanULTRA

Is she really into PETA? I think she just likes going naked.

  • 0

    GW

ha ha I just put her name into a search engine & after a couple clicks there she is like today minus the card BUT covering her lower regions with a big piece of FUR!!!!

it might have been fake but I doubt it, shes a hypocrite but a very attractive one

  • 0

    Zer00

but who has not seen her naked?

I have not. Somebody please help me :D

  • 0

    jmarc

too skinny, she should eat a bit more

  • 0

    jerseyboy

Looks like my ex-girlfriend -- minus the card of course.

  • 0

    KitsuneYoukai

If she looks this skinny in this photo this means she is even skinnier in person.

  • 0

    norinrad21

Man is the image and glory of God, but woman is the glory of man :p

  • 0

    flammenwerfer

IIRC she divorced her husband because he wasn't stoking the fires enough, the term sexless divorce was coined. One has to ask the question, what was her husband thinking?

  • 0

    Sarge

Triple888: "The human body is truly beautiful"

    You haven't seen my body.

"woman is the glory of man"

According to a famous book, the first woman came from the rib of this guy... I dunno...

  • 0

    WhiteHawk

That does it, I'm not wearing fur! But I'm still wearing my (motorcycle) leathers.

    "Viva Japan." Indeed!

  • 0

    cleo

Asked about leather products, she said she still continues to buy them because “leather production is different from fur production.”

Looks like she isn't really into PETA.

  • 0

    eresay

Shes 40???? Wow, what a hottie!

  • 0

    akaguma

I'm sure it has everything to do with her ethics and nothing at all to do with attention-seeking. she seems to have done well judging from all the slavering, mundane drool from this lot of voyeuristic slobs

  • 0

    pathat

It sure is a shame about her face. She does not even resemble the Aya Sugimoto of her early bikini idol days.

  • 0

It sure is a shame about her face. She does not even resemble the Aya >Sugimoto of her early bikini idol days.

I'd cut her a break. We all age dude.

  • 0

    rurika

She looks very good for her age but she isn't a vegan or even a vegetarian. Strange choice for a PETA campaign.

  • 0

    pathat

Ossan-I am talking about all the plastic surgery she has had done. Her face is not the result of the normal aging process. The rest of her body-regardless of what is real and what is not-still looks hot.

  • 0

    pathat

Ossan: take a look at Aya Sugimoto, circa 1990: Like many of the celebrities we see in the Pic of the Day, she just ain`t natural at all, so I feel little need to cut her slack.

  • 0

    ca1ic0cat

I'll cut her some slack. She'd sure have to cut us some slack. Probably a lot of it....

  • 0

There's no "i" in "teamwork," but there sure is "t&a" in "PETA."

she needs to gain some weight. do all j-girls have to be skinny??

Skinny...No way... She's probably a few kg up on most models her age...or most models for that matter... Definitely not fat, but certainly not skinny...Nice....

But the younger generation JN's have been putting on some weight...You never see too many of the older one's being obese...

I wonder if she drank a lot of prune juice before this pic?

  • 0

So, when is she going to shave her head?

  • 0

    Alphaape

Like a caption under a photo I once saw under a beautiful woman once said: "No matter how fine she looks, some man, some where, is tired of her c**p."

In other words, all that glitters is not gold.

She is pretty though I must admit.

  • 0

    ambrosia

She's pretty but - eat please! A tofu burger, bean salad, something. Those arms look like pins and her shoulders are non-existent. It's good that she's not overweight but a little more bulk and muscle wouldn't do anything to deter from her looks, in fact they would help them and help prevent osteoporosis.

mindovermatter: Yes, you do see more overweight young Japanese nowadays but you also see more of the other extreme. In fact Japan is considered to have some of the highest rates of eating disorders in the world. Not a day goes by that I don't see at least two or three girls who look to be on the verge of death as well as any number of young men who don't appear to have an ounce of fat -or muscle- on them. Obviously Ms. Sugimoto doesn't fall into that category but I still say she could stand another 5 kilos at least. The pose is making her look curvy but standing up straight a woman that skinny is not going to have any natural curves.

  • 0

    tattit742

Actually I was surprised to see comments about how skinny she is because...my first reaction to the picture was that she looks healthy and not all skinny, Her legs aren't stick thin, she has some stomach and a full behind. Shes average for a japanese woman her age!

    onewrldoneppl

    1. she's 40 years old and in fabulous shape with a beautiful face
    2. she's in better shape than most young women (japanese and american) between the ages of 16 - 24
    3. she's a fabulous dancer and enjoys her independence
    4. although she's a "tarento" she feels none of the restrictions often imposed by japanese production companies
    5. befor you attempt to judge/misjudge her, her motives and her actions; brush up on your japanese & go to: http://video.msn.com/video.aspx?mkt=ja-JP&vid=5280531a-3fea-4e77-be74-b6c437952bdb ... to watch the post-photo shoot interview
    6. note that the j-media/quasi-journalist that had been sent by the usual suspect "media" outlets were grossly unqualified to discuss/ask questions about PETA or anything vaguely political/social and instead chose to focus on the nudity, much to ms sugimoto's annoyance
    7. she's 40 years old and in fabulous shape with a beautiful face
