Never seen round-shaped glaciers before.
They will be on display through Sunday... and then what will they do with them? Take them back? Drop them in the polar bear's pool at Ueno Zoo? Make 'kaki-goori' for the kids in Akihabara? Or will they have become puddles by then?

Come on you sour dour old crusties...I think this is pretty neat. Feels nice to touch, looks interesting. Cool and soothing on a muggy day. How many times in your life are you going to have a chance to touch a glacier? Especially in a major metro area? Good stuff.
Smell the roses once and a while and enjoy life a little instead of making everything gravid with sociopolitical angst.

are we sure these came from glaciers ? japan's not exactly known for truth in advertising

Silent Thunder, your comment is too serious. hahahahaha
Most of the readers like to come on here and good-naturedly and light-heartedly thump the proffered articles. Tear them to bits! Much more fun!!!

pointless and meaningless campaign

This lone violinist will go down in history as one of the real heros of our time. 100 years from now it is the fanatic defenders of our battered eco system that will be held up as the savior of our kind. That they had the courage and the determination to stand up in the face of cheap shots and denials about the changes on our planet.

Probably less than it took to blast North Korea's nuclear cooling tower.

i would like to know how much petrol, energy they used and how much pollution they created to bring those to tokyo !! probably more damaging for the environment than helpful !

It is a good idea. This is a country that needs to be woken up. These people are standing in the convenience stores for half an hour reading a magazine with their cars idling(and a\c running) in the parking lot. Not to mention the thousands upon thousands of taxis idling day and night throughout the country. If only a few people can have their eyes opened it will have been worth the money and gasoline spent. Williamsmith. Are you some kind of rich oil baron or something? Or do have you just had your head in the sand for the past 20 years?

sorry for the extra "do" in my last sentence.

The originality of this campaign is unprecedented (and weird) but I can't help but think how many drove their cars extra far just to see the glaciers.

Blue is the earth, black back ground, white ice is the colour of funeral, and these pieces of glacier are melting away with sad (?) classical music...is this a warning or a mourning for future of mankind and this planet?...ha ha that is another way to look at it if you don't want to use those cold pieces for you ice coffee.

The planet in requiem utters the sad and emotional monologue that emanates from the violin. It is a fervent call to arms, for all of us to take stock of the transforming conditions that may result in our collective doom. It is no laughing matter.

Global Warming is a joke.

Is that opinion based on your political beliefs, or your knowledge of Meteorology and Climatology?
As someone trained in the latter, I can say, with great confidence, you are wrong.
