The Platters perform at MLB Cafe in Ebisu on Friday night. The legendary group sang golden oldies such as “Only You” and “The Great Pretender,” as well as Christmas songs.

    Saw them in Yokohama last year - great interaction with the audience - they even come around and get you to join in! Looks like this is getting to be an annual Japan tour.

    It's wonderful that those golden oldies still give listening pleasure after 50 years. I wonder how much of today's music we will be listening to in 2060.

    I wonder how much of today's music we will be listening to in 2060.

    what is today's music? a. mozart b.black flag c. lady gaga

    50 years from now, yeah some people might be listening to lady gaga, might be listening to madonna too if they want to get all noel coward about it for quaintness sake. in 2010 I'm listening to music from 1930 onwards so think it is safe to assume that music from 2010 (good and bad) will still be around in 2060.

    No original members for the past 40 years. This is one of several groups touring as "The Platters".

    I'm not sure any of the original members are even alive any longer. The group started in 1953.
