I'm sorry... I don't see the Gotham Gang... Are you sure they were there, too?

I'd be grinning like the cheshire cat if I was beside her!

Holy orange long legs, Batman!

Why do men like legs so much? Most of us have them. She is a pretty woman though.

-11 ( +4 / -15 )

She is gorgeous

9 ( +9 / -0 )

She's ok. Knees are too sharp though.

-10 ( +1 / -11 )

She's pretty hot. The show, though, is terrible. Started off well enough -- nice gritty background. But that's it. The show depends entirely on the rep of Batman, and the writing is horrid.

Sumire is gorgeous, self-deprecating and conversational. It's too bad she can't act in English. She'd go over very well in Hollywood, if she could.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

Wow shes's hot

Couldn't really tell you, any more than why some men fixate on breasts, behinds, or necks. Why do some women like muscular arms, pectorals, abdomens, or behinds on men? It's an evolutionary mystery.

Smith,

I beg to differ. The show is engaging and well-written for its genre. It managed to provide a compelling story for its first season without saying a thing about Batman, opting instead to focus almost exclusively on exploring a complex relationship between Gordon and a young Bruce Wayne. This is a refreshing approach on a story that's well known to some, but completely unfamiliar to many, I'd wager. Furthermore, its clearly apparent that the show is being written to speak to a new generation of fans, and not cater exclusively to fanboys. That's a plus in a genre that is very decidedly one of the better things to come out of American pop culture over the past 70 years and deserves to be more deeply developed and explored, namely the idea of selfless heroism, or the idea of suppressing one's self on behalf of those in greater need. That's James Gordon in this show. All IMHO, of course. :-)

Sumire only got her legs in the door because her daddy is famous and she grew up in Hawaii. Because of that, she can become a model, singer, actress and "talent".

True. Look at Kim Kardashian, prime example. I think what you said goes for half of the talent nowadays, that's a thing of the past and that's any country really. it's not about what you know anymore....

1 ( +1 / -0 )

shouldn't that be japanese"talent" par JT tradition.

and i love gotham. best new show of the season. well written and superb acting. penguin is loveably cruel. check it out if you can.

I hope she is one of the bad girls.

Why do Japan always have to add a talento that has totally got nothing to do with the show??? what purpose??? just to rise up sexual tensions?

-1 ( +3 / -4 )

Sean's dad was Wurzel Gummidge.

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

I bet that talento doesn't even know, interested or watch that show at all.

Sean's dad was Wurzel Gummidge.

Not to mention the third Dr Who.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

Standard local marketing technique of putting a good looking Japanese woman, normally with no connection to or involvement in the project, among the gaijin cast....... does it work?

1 ( +2 / -1 )

Have season 2 started ? love this show so much!

I'm ok with that. I like her.

Why do Japan always have to add a talento that has totally got nothing to do with the show???

Usually they are one of the voice actresses used in the dubbing.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

Why do Hollywood stars with no connection to the movie being shown attend movie premiers? How is that any different? Seriously people get their panties in a bunch over the most insignificant things.

3 ( +5 / -2 )

Wakarimasen Indeed, welcome to the Hostess culture...

1 ( +3 / -2 )

Not to mention the third Dr Who.

Yes and Dr Who is on TV in Japan now.

There is a big difference between a hollywood actor/actress WANTING to watch a movie premier and a Talento being PAID to just be there act sexy arousing men. If she is one of the voice actresses? ok! she should be there, but if she's got nothing to do with the show at all? I don't see the point. So does Japan really need to sexualize a woman to promote a show???

0 ( +3 / -3 )

Are you sure about that? What about all the obsession with what the actresses are wearing/how high their slits are/how low their cleavage is cut? They take home a pretty little paycheck from the designers to sex up the carpet as well - regardless of whether they want to watch the movie. Again, not different.

1 ( +3 / -2 )

Yes, hostess culture indeed. she is good loking, sure, but i struggle to understand how putting her in the middle of these 4 in any way makes the show more attractive to local viewers.

And what is the connection of these to the show GOTHAM? Did I say that Hollywood red carpet is better? Plus most of those celebrities (hollywood) who reveal too much at red carpets are PART of the show,or they are a big fan of the director or cast etc. and wanting to see the show so badly, I don't see any interviews or statement from this talent that she is a big fan of the show

I think the voice actors are more deserving to be there with the stars than this Talento.

I was merely asking why you are getting so upset about it - does it add to the show? No, of course not - Does it mean it may spark some interest in the show over here in Japan because there is a familiar face? Maybe.

They have to generate interest and promote the show to make it viable to show in Japan.

As that is a good thing, I do not understand why you are so upset about it.

And stating that "Why do Japan always have to add a talento that has totally got nothing to do with the show??? what purpose??? just to rise up sexual tensions?" suggests that you are talking about every show that comes into Japan, which is why I mentioned the case of Hollywood and their red carpets. Has it occurred to you that this too is "all part of the show?"

Additionally, you do realize that no one can legally watch this show here until AXN releases it right?

Lastly, just FYI, it may have been for marketing purposes, but she did mention how wonderful the cast was and for everyone to watch it when it comes out on AXN.

So again, why so serious?

1 ( +3 / -2 )

sumire was actually serving as an interpreter/interviewer this time..

3 ( +3 / -0 )

I wouldn't have clicked on this photo if she hadn't been in it.

Now I've clicked on it, if I were inclined to watch this series, I might be interested to look into it.

That's how it works.

Violet-chan looks like a carrot.

Sumire should have her own show. I would watch that!!

lol who is upset? criticizing doesn't mean being upset. I criticize the way they use and stereotyped women to sell a product. not "MIGHT", It will definitely spark interest as sexy women always work, but can a promotion without a sexy talent work? Yes It can! When I watched Gotham, I admired the creativity being applied to this show. That's why it disappoints me that IN-JAPAN they have to go with the stereotype way kind of promotion, going through a talento, not different from a Beer Ad with a big busted woman on the cover. I mean….do they really need her? Or she's just a waste of resources? lol

fishy

Good to know that she served a purpose, so she sould be in the photo. JT didn't mention that part so I thought she was just another stand in talento for promotion.

Those legs!!!

1 ( +2 / -1 )

LFRAgain: We're just going to have to disagree. There is a good way of telling the story, or pre-history, of something well known to many, but Gotham is NOT a good example of how that is done well. Spartacus was done AMAZINGLY well. True, the blood and nudity were gratuitous, but despite EVERYONE knowing that Spartacus dies -- it's historical fact -- you STILL could not help watching it and wondering what the outcome would be, or at least HOPING he might survive somehow. Wolf Hall and Vikings are other fantastic examples. Gotham had a very strong start, but then it digressed into the typical formula of introducing a 'new character' each episode for meaningless story-arcs and very poor plot devices; kind of like what happened to Heroes after the first season. The acting in Gotham is pretty solid, save for the kid who plays Bruce Wayne (he was even more annoying in Touch, but still), and the settings are great, but that can't save a badly scripted show. A friend told me it's gotten better (I quit watching after 10 episodes or so), and it IS better than a lot of the crap being introduced at present, but again, I think it's not really worth watching.

I am glad it's made it over here, though.

Sumire Matsubara on KITV News, Hawaii: <www.youtube.com/watch?v=ETwmbspmfOc>

It's too bad she can't act in English. She'd go over very well in Hollywood, if she could.

Why can't she? One would think her English would be pretty good growing up in Hawaii.

Sumire only got her legs in the door because her daddy is famous and she grew up in Hawaii.

And some legs those are! Quite frankly, she is prettier than almost all of the other models/actors/singers so I'm fine with that.

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

Yeah, she's hotter than hot alright. Looks too high maintenance though. So if you don't own 1/3 of Roppongi Hills, forget about her-

I think it is very sweet that Robin and Corey are holding hands.
