That is awesome. I always expected those dreary dead looking buildings of Japan held within them a secret Gundam suit. Boyaa shaka!

Ha that is a true honor no doubt the artist who creatred gundam should be very proud not only that this will make people watch gundam again just to remeber how awsome it is.

    @marsnairb: too good.

Only through August? This should be a lifetime monument!

This machine is very scary. What if a wire short-circuits and it goes on a rampage through the city. Not sure if J-police have training for such a scenario?

It is 1:1 scale, moves on 50 points and shoots lights. I went to see it the other day, it is not open yet (and not moving), it opens July 1st for 2 months

Godzilla will take care of it.

There's a question JT should be asking posters: How many Mobile Suits would it require to take down Godzilla?

That's a damned cool machine! Gotta' get to Tokyo before the end of August.

Honda should use asimo tech to build a giant Gundam like robot, for tourists. It will bring more tourists to japan.

Now Japan can defend its country from NK nuc weapon. ^_^

i'm only waiting for the seishun kippu to see this =w= <3

  • 0

    chardk1

Now if the Japanese could just combine this thing with Asimo and KOBIAN so we can have an 18 meter robot with seven emotions that can kick a soccer ball and carry trays of tea, that would be truly awesome. Weird, but awesome.

This thing would fly if NK fire their rockets :-)

"Not sure if J-police have training for such a scenario?"

On the contrary, it might be the only thing they DO have training for

I wonder who would win in a fight:

    Gundam or Optimus Prime.

I think Gundam would kick goody-two-shoes Prime's ass any day of the week.

    inakaRob

Its too bad Gundams dont look cool. As much as I want to like them. I think they all look pretty... not bad ass at all.

I think Gundam would kick goody-two-shoes Prime's ass any day of the week.

I think Prime would win by cheesy one-liners ...

    gamera

Prime looses just by being in Transformers 2. What a piece of garbage that movie is. I almost walked out.

I think Gundam would kick goody-two-shoes Prime's ass any day of the week.

    Gamera-

If it was garbage you should have walked out........

I wish there's a life-size Zaku II to go with this Gundam. I always identified more with the Principality of Zeon than the Earth Federation in the series...

Great pic! These things are the heaven for otaku.

    TokyoGas

Actually this is a pretty cool pic. But I would like to see Godzilla hanging off the side of Tokyo Tower. :)

I wonder if they go as far as making the cockpit interior.

  • 0

    fatfrenchfool

oooh, is it for the new Transformers movie?

  • 0

    tenguleavings

Put the new Colonel Sanders Mark II statue on its shoulder. No power in the universe could contain that tandem.

  • 0

    HonestDictator

I remember seeing a picture of this statue being built years ago. Technically speaking I'm thinking a Transformer would kick a Gundams arse any day of the week, being sentient and all that and able to adapt to conditions where as gundams need a pilot. That aside if they're going to start building the almighty mecha, why not go with Masamune Shiro's more practical and realistic designs.

    Anyways, nice otaku statue.

They should put a bunch of them on the opposite coast line so the North Korean spies completely freak

If you like the pic, check out the vid that goes with this on youtube - just check my handle name - the same as it is here - and the title "Giant Gundam Gathers Gawking Geeks"
