Well deserved. I am sure it will be a new stimulus for the country's economy. A new way to start the engine again.

Congratulations to Japan. The job well done. I would like to see a great team work and commitment like this for Fukushima clean up. Am I asking too much to you guys?

Cheer for the games! Weep for Fukushima!

It won't just go away, now that there is something to be happy about, you know!

Yes, agree with globalwatcher. Need this type of energy, and finance for Fukushima.

I shudder to think how lame the opening ceremony is when they focus on the 'best' popular music Japan has to offer. Vomits.

Other than that, congratulations.

Awesome, as a huge fan of the Olympics I cant wait, I hope the people of Tokyo make it a smaller friendly games like London 2012 which was a so much better than the soul less extravaganza of Beijing. London has laid the template of what a modern Ollies should be. Having massive stadiums means nothing without the heart and soul of the locals.

It will be awesome and will only disappoint or annoy if that's how you like to live your life.

Well, that will be the music of the day seven years from now. Maybe all the AKB hype will be over and done with. Girls can't stay 19 forever.

Congrats, Tokyo and Japan. I sincerely hope, though, that while Tohoku was used to get the vote (as they attempted to use Hiroshima and Nagasaki for 2016), they don't renege on promises to help them and actually get to it sooner rather than later. They said time and again that winning the bid would help the people suffering, so they damn well better make sure it does, NOW.

I called this one months ago.

Tokyo was the only logical choice between the three candidate cities. The train's about to leave the station. ALL ABOARD!!!!!!!!

Bravo, Tokyo!!!!!!!

Congratulations Japan!

Japan will host a high quality Olympics no doubt. Just remember what Abe pledged to the IOC and to the world last night, and hold him to it. And above all don't forget the people in the Tohoku area, especially the displaced. There plight has been used to bring the games to Tokyo, just as the electricity generated from TEPCO was used for Tokyo.

You think? The Olympics cost more than they make! Why d'ya think Spain was booted out of the running at the first vote?
