Looks like quite a few Japanese have traded in the hapless Samurai kit and become Deutchland fanatics! Nice photo.

I understand them.

Germany has finally won the World Cup 2014. They have shown the signs of their willpower, perseverance and determination. Keep up the spirit and enjoy. Heartiest congratulations and this calls for a party.

ummm, can you do that? your country loses so you just go buy another country's jersey and flag and root for them?

I hope they were discussing Goethe earnestly during the half-time interval, with the added intellectual bonuses of the 90-minute and 105-minute breaks.

I can't get that excited about my own country. This reminds me of some absolutely fanatical Japanese fans of Liverpool FC here. I watched the European Cup final of 2005 in a Tokyo sports bar and their chants even had a Scouse lilt. I don't know if this lot stood for or joined in Deutchland Uber Alles.

Great to see Germany made the cup! It was to be expected that they win far higher but it seems they wanted it to be an exciting game and so they throttled themselves down on uberness.

A few weeks ago these same people were sporting Japan jerseys and believing Honda when he said that country's team would be in the final. Then again, looking at the Sportscenter highlights of the final game, Agentina's uniform looked a lot like Japan's uniform.

Im the one who is ridiculous? So you mean to tell me all these Japanese people been wearing Germany jerseys and waving German flags since the qualifiers? Its one thing to cheer for another team or hope they win once your team is eliminated, its another thing to wear the jersey of a country that isnt even yours. Or are all these people German-Japanese and I am missing the significance?

@Blacklabel

Who said you have to choose a country and root for them from the qualifiers ? It's just for fun and it's much more fun if you have a team/country to root for.

Yes, you are the one who is ridiculous if you are complaining about people rooting for Germany. 99% of Brazilian people rooted for Germany as well in the final, do you think they were rooting for them starting from the qualifiers ? SMH...

Don't understand all the outrage about seemingly Japanese people rooting for the German team in German jerseys. SO WHAT, FOLKS ! GET OVER IT ! I, here in the good ole USA, would root for Samurai Blue in a Japanese jersey if they had my size ! I catch flak for cheering on Japanese teams all the time ! (not against the USA sometimes, though!)
