Have an ice day

Have an ice day
PHOTOS BY YUKO WATANABE

Children brave the chilly weather Monday on the ice skating rink at Tokyo Midtown. The temperature was 6 degrees in Tokyo shortly after 1 p.m. The rink is open from 12 noon to 10 p.m. until Feb 29. The cost is 1,000 yen for high school students and adults, and 500 yen for younger children. Skates can be rented for 500 yen. For further information, click here.

I love the idea of ice skating rinks in cities. Every school in Hokkaido has a free ice skating rink in winter. Kids up here in Hokkaido had to brave chilly temperatures that were 11 degrees colder at the same time than their Tokyo counterparts.

Skates can be rented, but figure skates only, so my fellow puck-heads have been shafted again.

Would be nice if helmets could be rented too. Those two kids learning skating would need it. That little one back there is at least wearing. I saw so many people falling back and hitting their head in the ices. Consequences can be very dangerous. The other girl seems to be playing with her mobile on the ice. Hmmmmm

Temperature here may just dip below freezing tonight for just once this winter. So no ice, and no ice-skating. All we have in our town is a roller-skating rink. But it's not the same ;-(

    6? C or F?

    6C is like 43F.

"Brave the chilly weather..." BAHAHA! That's like time to get the tricycle out and play with the kids in the backyard time where I live.

And a bunch of you know what I mean! "Brave the 6C" funny.
