Japanese weightlifter and team captain for the Asian Games Hiromi Miyake, 28, works out at the National Training Center in Tokyo. Japan is heading into the Asian Games, which begin Sept 19, with its team's two top symbolic leadership roles filled by women for the first time, in what may mark increasing attention to women's sports in the traditionally male-dominated society.

Bodybuilder women...to tough looking.

Models... way to thin.

Mild weight workout women, you know, with meat on their bones....PERFECT!

Her father and coach is Yoshiyuki Miyake who was a bronze medalist in weightlifting at the 1968 Mexico City Olympics and her uncle Yoshinobu Miyake was a gold medalist in weightlifting at the 1964 and 1968 Olympics. She came in 6th place in the 48 kg class at the 2008 Olympics and won the Silver medal at the 2012 Olympics. Definitely a very strong and dedicated weightlifter.

I will title this image as "Eye On The Prize" as she certainly has the look of determination needed to go far! Ganbatte Miyake san!

There's something really great about a woman lifting. Love it. Good luck.

Strong lady! Japanese women sure aren't lacking in the strength/muscle department - and it shows with them winning many medals in strength sports such as weightlifting and wrestling. Lets hope Hiromi-San can lead the way in changing Japanese culture and making it less male-dominant.

Awsome form. Just a little puzzled about something. The platform is not rubberized at the sides for the weights to be dropped on to lighten the shock. At least that's what I have seen with olympic style weight rooms. But looking good!

nishikat: You and others beat me to it -- amazing form. Here's hoping she does us all proud.

Good luck! I admire athletes like her that are so focused and determined on a single goal. I lose my train of thought even while writing about... what was I saying?

Seriously, I wish her the best and others like her and just hope to see a great competition.
