Home Gateway

Home Gateway

An assistant demonstrates an augmented-reality touch screen device developed by NTT at the group’s NOTE showroom in Tokyo’s Marunouchi district. An image is projected onto the back of the notebook and responds to human gestures. NTT envisions the technology being applied to everything from checking a movie trailer and booking cinema tickets to sharing content across groups of people on different devices. Other applications on display include products for managing home energy consumption, crime prevention and disaster relief. The idea behind it all is to unify all of your gadgets and link them through one, single “Home Gateway.”

They should just produce it and let people figure out their own uses for it.

"checking a movie trailer and booking cinema tickets to sharing content across groups of people on different devices. ... crime prevention and disaster relief. The idea behind it all is to unify all of your gadgets and link them "

Somehow this does not seem like "augmented reality" to me, and I can already handle watching a movie trailer and getting tickets. This could be a big marketing bomb if they can't simplify it and sell it.

I don't know about the technology they are demonstrating, but I like the composition in the photo.

What are we supposed to be looking for in the photo?

Is this like Microsoft's new Xbox Kinect responding to human gestures?

This story should have another photo from the view of the woman wearing the woman using the headgear.
