Visitors walk past huge ice sculptures at Chitose-Lake Shikotsu Ice Festival in Chitose, Hokkaido, on Monday. The ice sculptures, which are made by jetting the water of Lake Shikotsu with sprinklers, will be on display until Feb 15.

This is a fun festival to go to, dress warm though, the wind on the lake is very chilling.

Those sculptures are abstract but at least when wife and I went(2006 I think) they had alot of domes(they mix the ice with different objects to change the colour inside the domes), a few slides, some sculptures of different things(but you would do better to go the Sapporo Snow Festival if that is solely what you want to see) traditional music and the whole thing is put on by Sapporo Beer.
