Although Apple only holds 8% market share for computers, it was announced today that the iPhone is the most popular phone in Australia, ousting Nokia.

RIP Mr. Jobs. It is not the end of your life. It is just the beginning of your memory.

The Henry Ford of our times. Brought fantastic products to the masses. Nice to see the worldwide memorials.

Okay, I completely give Steve Jobs credit where credit is due. He certainly was a visionary and a leader in his field. BUT, I'm starting to get creeped out by the way people are reacting to his passing. Is/was everyone THAT touched, personally, by him? I think this needs to be put into perspective; people are getting overly emotional over someone who designed their cell phone or computer. Really, how close could you feel? For me, I would think that I'd hardly notice if Apple itself disappeared overnight. Again, he's definitely going to deserve more than a few pages in the annals of history, but I simply can't justify all of the melodrama I'm seeing in the media and on Facebook.

USNinJapan, I have been using Apple computers since 1989 and I have never owned a Windows machine. During all this time when I was laughed at and ridiculed, I wanted to use what I wanted to use. For me all of the Macs were not just computers, it was a life style. And this life style was created thanks to this one person, so i actually feel very personally about him and his passing. Would you understand that? I don't know, maybe you would, maybe not. While I have been getting ready for this day, it still came as a shock. For many people the hoopla over his death may seem like a melodrama, but for others it is the end of an era.

Mac's were definitely not cool in the 80's and early 90's. He has changed that company in all sorts of ways. He destroyed Sony and all the big name electronic gadgets.

ipod is truly a remarkable device. I hope the people ruining it now won't destroy it.

i wish Steve Jobs went into manufacturing and designing automobiles. So we won't be addicted to OIL.

I hope APPLE keep on innovating and go into the automobile market.

if an ipod can play music for 2 or 3 days wihout charging than they should make a automobile that can run on pure battery power ALONE.

You guys realize that he's been on medical leave since January and stepped down as CEO in august. I don't think many people expected him to come back in any capacity and in any case he already handed over the reigns to Cook. So you can say the era ended in January.. not with his passing

I'm with USN on this one, though there is no doubting his legacy and what he (and his team, Apple isn't just 1 guy after all) did for Tech worldwide, people taking his passing on a personal note is just too much

    It"S ME

I think when Jobs resigned he lost a lot of what drove him and kept him going and thus the sooner end.

Also with USN doubt Jobs was allowed as much on-hand work as he would have liked and also lets not forget Steve Wozniak who was the technical genius, as I am sure were many other similar employees at Apple.

Jobs had a Vision and the skill to impart that vision onto other and nurture them into making the vision come true.

Yeah, but he did not go to college. He didn't have any maketing experience in his life. He had all sorts of people critizing him and negative comments. Him and his co founder built the company from scratch.

As for this picture, i'm not going to critize it but i hope this kid thanks his father or mother for buying his clthes and putting food on the table. I hope he honors his parents in the same way as he is honoring "a dude with a great idea."

PLEASE HONOR YOUR PARENTS TOO !!!!!

Bow down and worship at the altar of St. Jobs. To be honest, it would not surprise me if Jobs has invented a way to electronically re-incarnate himself - if any man could do it, he could. Greatest genius of all time. Make no mistake - he will be back.

I am starting a new Religion and St. Jobs will be the idol we pray to.

I am with you USN. But you know how people are. Jesus was just a Jewish Rabbi that spoke cool things and look what they did to him. Christianity.

There is actually a part of me that is sickened by some of the responses to his death. It's not because he was a bad man, but because I'm not sure what he did for the world. He was a businessman and an inventor. He made some great things, but he didn't come up with a cure for cancer or the internet. He made luxuries for people that they don't need.

At the end of the day, Jobs was a charismatic guy and made cool stuff that people think they now need as a basic minimum. He was essentially a techno-celebrity, and there's no real substance to people sobbing over his death, bar those who actually knew the man.
