Well, it is not well publicized of course, but Japan and Iran have always been in business.

Japan and Iran are back in business, because the US and Iran are back in business

They've never stopped being in business. They can just now stop begging to be an exception on sanctions for countries that deal with them.

YEP,

For now the OIL can flow again.... (I bet Israel is not pleased)

A diverse supply of cheap oil will be good for Japan. Not quite so good for Iran especially if it drops to $20. Wonder what the Japanese will invest in first over there... a Toyota Hilux truck plant perhaps. I hear they are quite popular in that part of the world.

Iran has huge potential and can be a big drive for global economy.

Yeah, if they would just stop with that pesky " Death to America " thing they're always doing.

Good agreement signed between Japan and Iran which will certainly open new channels for commercial activities for Japan in coming years when other modern infra projects are fully implemented with the assistance of India in Iran which will certainly expand the scope for trade and commercial activities for Japanese companies operating from India in future.

Japan has always traded with Iran, and it is a sort of popular tourist destination. Remember a year or two ago when the US stopped Iran from banking internationally, and Japan said "NO"? The US gave Japan an exemption as a face-saving measure. When I was a kid in the 80s, there were a lot of Iranians here in Tokyo doing labor. They all gathered at Yoyogi Park in Shibuya on the weekend for "Little Tehran". We got to eat great Iranian food (but I don't remember what the things were called). Hope they return with that food!

This deal most likely will accelerate nuclear proliferation. Because if regional powers feel threatened by the possibility of Iran getting a weapon and the penalty for producing nuclear weapons decreases, then why wouldn’t they?

They've never stopped being in business.

Like what? I know South Korea has never stopped being in business with Iran using Iran's bank accounts in Korean banks in SK currency Won.

You've got a pretty funny memory if you recall it that way. Japan literally BEGGED the US not to put it on the sanction list as it said it desperately needed to keep up the trade with Iran, but still agree with the sanctions. They didn't say "NO", they said, "Onegai!!"

tinawatanabe: "Like what?"

Like with what both gokai and I pointed out above. You forget that?

"I know South Korea has never stopped being in business with Iran using Iran's bank accounts in Korean banks in SK currency Won."

I don't believe they begged to be kept of the US to be an exception, and I don't think they're talking about being "back in business" now, are they? So, what's your point, tina, besides trying to deflect?

You forget that?

Japan had huge stake in Iran so needed to protect but couldn't. So what business Japan was in with Iran?

I don't believe they begged to be kept of the US to be an exception

South Korea didn't need to beg, they secretly had business with Iran using thier own currency Won. That way, Iran bought Korean products to consume the Won Iran accumulated in Korean banks by selling crude oil.

I don't think they're talking about being "back in business" now, are they?

South Korea is not only talking about it, they are so serious that President Park is going there begging for maintaining their Won bank accounts in Korean banks.

So, what's your point, tina, besides trying to deflect?

that you were wrong again.
