Japan Motor Racing Hall of Fame

Japanese model Yuri Ebihara and TV personality Masaaki Sakai pose at the award ceremony for the Japan Motor Racing Hall of Fame at Tokyo Midtown on Tuesday night. The event was organized by Swiss luxury watch brand TAG Heuer, which has had a strong connection with motor racing for over 100 years.

The awards are given to people who have dedicated themselves to promoting the popularity of automobiles and motor sports. This year's recipients for each division were: Ken Yokoyama (Car Culture Enthusiast), Aguri Suzuki (Racing Legend), Kazutoshi Mizuno (Designer/Engineer), Toshiaki Kurosawa (Excellence in the Car Industry) and Kenta Yamashita (Young Hope).

Sakai received the award two years ago and is now a member of the selection committee. Ebihara, popularly known as "Ebi-chan," said she found men who drive fast cars sexy.

I'm not sure which I think is more attractive.

That's why you came equipped with two eyes, so you can enjoy both.

Well, it's about time we saw Ebi-chan again!

He's thinking "She's my style". She's thinking "Get me out of here".

I hope he took her out afterward to get her something to eat. Emaciated is unattractive and unhealthy. I wish Japan could find better image standards for today's young women.

He's thinking "She's my style". She's thinking "Get me out of here".

That's the first thing I noticed, looking at the body language. He's leaning in, she's leaning away.

Mine was a sarcastic comment because that's not a good pic of her.

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

Emaciated?!? Only her forearms look a bit thin.

because that's not a good pic of her.

Agree. In fact it may be the worst shot I've seen of her. Looks like she was at the gym or something and they called her at the last minute, and they threw a dress and some jewelry on her. Didn't appear to bother with her hair.

Maybe he is using one of those new extendable hands.

Would have been nice to see some of the winners posing rather than these two "tarentos" The Shrimp doesn't look great in this pictuire.

I can spend 15 seconds on Google and see a dozen better ones. Just saying.

Have any of them ever won anything important or even heard of? I know Aguri Suzuki once came third in a Formula 1 Grand Prix -- but does that make him a "legend"? I've never heard of Ken Yokoyama, unless the article refers to means mean the punk record label founder. Kazutoshi Mizuno is a brilliant designer for Nissan, but how does that connect him with the "motor racing" hall of fame? Toshiaki Kurosawa is, as far as I can work out, an actor, and Kenta Yamashita is, as the article says, "a young hope" — so how does he qualify for a hall of fame? Perhaps it would help if, with the exception of Kazutoshi Mizuno, they were all inducted into the "Motor Industry Hall of Mediocrity".

Aguri was the first Asian man with a podium finish in F1, not to mention the Japan Formula 3000 champion in 1988.

"Aguri was the first Asian man with a podium finish in F1, not to mention the Japan Formula 3000 champion in 1988."

Does that make him a "legend"? I was the first European to import a 3-wheeled car (a Bond Bug) into Japan. Am I equally a legend?

to the down voter, that is the actor that played monkey

She's wearing less makeup in this photo as compared to those.

Also, a lot of those (google images ebichan) seem to be old pics. Wikipedia: "Years active 2002 - present".

I like the natural look. And size just right. Bonus points for hafu spouse.
