About the only thing Toyama is good for is the scenery. But the prices to see any of it tear out your wallet. Just to get there even in Toyama costs about 10,000.

irishhighlander, that's true but Japan is proud of bridges, rail tracks and tunnels. Everything is there in this picture and all for free :)

funny colour? no, not at all - that is a very normal colour for a 'snow fed' river, which this river must be - Toyama has lots of big mountains and snow.

Very nice picture.
irishhighlander - Geez, you sure know how to put a damper on things.

I'd love to visit Toyama sometime, reading about Toyama politics post-Meiji is really quite interesting. They really had to fight hard for their river maintanence and infrastructure, and there were some real characters.

irishhighlander, it is not even close to that expensive. It's 1790 yen from Toyama city to the terminus of that railway and 1600yen-ish to take the rail itself. That's nowhere near 10,000 yen.
In fact, you can get there from Tokyo for 12-13,000yen.
Anyway, looks lovely - maybe a weekend trip this summer!

Good photo & nice view. This looks like a hiking bridge which is something Cdn is slowly getting into.

Japan does have some awesome scenery. It's a shame most Japanese have no chance to escape the cities to enjoy it until they retire.

It`s a fantastic place, a 2 day package costs around 30,000 JPY. including bullet train tickets, buses, 1 night at a hotel, others... Cannot wait to go mid of July.

Oops. My mistake. It was destroyed by King Ghidorah in 1965.
