@ThePBot. At the tome he gave pardon, Japan was very poor. There was no money to give away. Toyota founder was Creating a car from trash, bombed cities had blackmarketeers selling rice and vegetables and very poor in Japan.GOs were selling chewing bums. Government did not have money. Don't write a lie.

President Quirino granted a pardon to the Japanese war criminals amid the Philippinos' still boiling anti-Japan sentiment in 1953. The war reparation treaty bet. the Philippines and Japan was signed in 1956 after his death. ODA in general kicked off in 1962.

It was the West powers that colonized the entire Asia except Japan. Japan made all Asia countries independent from the West. The Philippines was US colony and US used the Philipino as front soldiers against Japan.

This is part of Japan's attempts to whitewash its war time brutality in the Philippines. It's also part of a campaign to deepen military ties ahead of a Japan-Philippines-US alliance against China, which will be a key part of Abe's diplomacy after he amends the Constitution.

It follows on from the Emperor and Empress's visit to the Philippines earlier this year. Here's a fascinating and highly disturbing article which analyses that visit in great depth:

tinawatanabe: "Japan made all Asia countries independent from the West."

If by enslaving them, raping their people, butchering women and children along with the men, carrying out live vivisections, and in general "freeing them from life", then yes, you're right, they made them "independent".

The US also made Japan independent from itself, you know, by dropping the atomic bombs. They freed Japan from tyranny and rescued the people. See how that works, tina?
