A sightseeing boat passes by a whirlpool in the Seto Inland Sea in Tokushima Prefecture on Monday. The whirlpools are created by the ebb and flow of currents in Naruto Strait and vortexes can reach up to 20 meters in diameter, swirling at a velocity of 20 kilometers per hour.

It'd be an even better pic if the sightseeing boat was caught in it ha ha ha just kidding I certainly wouldn't want to see that. But I wonder how dangerous this particular whirlpool is.

How cool is that?!?! I imagine a swimmer would be in (ahem) deep trouble. I reckon you wouldn't want to be paddling a dingy into that either.

Almost as good as the permanent one they have in Shimonoseki bay.

I`ve been there. It is boring.

Got to agree with pathat, the occur regularly every day and are incredibly anti-climatic. As a strong swimmer and surfer, it would be quite easy to swim out of.
