Cwhite,
They are using LIGHTS to accent the damn place. Lights are generally not natural especially at night.

well you know what I mean, if it was Christmas it be perfect but multi-coloured lighting for a Japanese Garden. Something like this would be more pleasant:

I love Korakuen.
Great memories of strolling around before heading off to work.

I was disappointed with this garden, just lots of lawn. Because it is considered one of the top 3 gardens in Japan, I thought it would be ornate and intimate like the nice gardens in Kyoto.
I guess it's considered special because how often do you see large public-access areas with sweeping lawns in Japan?

I have never been to this garden but the picture is really beautiful and well and professionally taken.

The Princess just took the words right out of my mouth!

Well, Sarge, it is so refreshing to see a nature photo after all the models in swimsuits, jeans and lux shampoo.

Princess - Agree, it certainly is refreshing!

Beautiful pic. I checked out the garden a few months ago. Very nice looking, although with all the people and the obvious "stay off the grass" feel to it, I sometimes felt like I was at the "Japanese Garden" ride at disneyland.
I would definately take people to see it, if they were only in Japan for a short bit.
I actually kind of prefer the smaller castle garden in my own neighborhood, where you can bust out the blue tarps and chill under the cherry blossums.

There is much more to Korakuen than the lawn.

I like Korakuen too. I liked it better than Kenrokeun in Kanazawa.
eresay at 12:13 AM JST - 7th September
Kenrokeun in Kanazawa is best seen in winter. bamboohat, there are large areas of Korakuen where you are encouraged to walk on the grass.
TeruSensei care to elaborate? The caged Tsuru? Stock standard trees found just outside the garden where you dont have to pay to see them?

Agree with the non-sarcastic folk, its awful purty them there lights 'n grassy green.

this is not a shot of nature, its a man made maintained garden, & this pic is nice but its just a snapshot of a nice garden, nice place to visit but nothing natural about the place, some of you folks are starting to think like the locals, ie a bonsai is nature...........I think bonsai are great but they aint nature
