Japan's newest brew pub, Campion Ale, serves up English-style beers brewed on the premises waiting to be shaken to its foundations by a huge drum as part of the Sanja-matsuri festivities in Asakusa, Tokyo, on Sunday.

Oh, if only technology would move forward to the day when we could click on the picture and download some of this ale!

100 Thumbs up Bertie, I see where your thoughts are. A 3D printer will only get you the beer carton so far.

keika1628,

Right.

A 3D printout of the beer carton doesn't cut it.

What I envision is like an attachment to the computer, like a small microwave, connected with a USB cable or similar.

You put your beer glass in the "oven."

Then onscreen, you click on "options," select, "Half-pint" or "Pint," click on "Download," and seconds later, there it is, at the perfect temperature, ready and waiting for you.

If only!

Maybe on MacOS XXX!

Why is it that the micro-brewries can't sell their products at the local convenie? The monopolies control the markets and own the politicians. The same situation existed the the USA in the '60s when there were only four major producers. Then, someone realized they were really producing yellow water with alcohol in it AND the politicians saw increased employment and sales tax by letting the micros sell at the local convenie. Kampai to hope that Japan will change.

Most local liquor stores stock them, they simply don't produce the volume for combini, etc. If they did would they still be micro breweries?

One of my local beer halls also has a good selection,

Bertie , We're not too far away from asking Scotty to beam down some exxxtra strong Ale . I'll have to look further into your micro-cable brew set up.

If I remember, ales require water with fairly high mineral content. While Japan has a lot of onsen with excellent mineral waters, the problem is that Japanese law prohibits the use of onsen water to make alcoholic beverages in most instances, so making ale in Japan is going to be really hard to do.

There are so many things about Japan which I love, but British beer is the best!

British beer has so much more depth of flavour, that all other beers are just cat's-piss in comparison. Will Campion Ale be made generally available?

Bill Adams,

I'm British too. And I love British Ales.

But American microbreweries are producing some truly wonderful beers these days. So is Japan. If you can get it where you are, look for Yona Yona IPA and Aooni. There are very definitely NOT feline urine! Good beer at a reasonable price.

Yes Aooni is a great drop, 7% too!
