Fantastic photo of Tokyo Tower with Mt.Fuji in the background. Not being a shy mountain in that picture.

Nice photo. And, hey, right behind Tokyo Tower is Moto-Azabu Hills Forest Tower on the left, where rents start at a mere 550,000 yen!

From what I understand, it really IS only visible to Tokyo on very clear days. Any sort of haze and the volcano is obscured.

Mt. Fuji is not far away from Tokyo. It's about 100 kilometers straight. If it erupted, enormous amount of ashes would fall in around Tokyo just like snow and all traffic jams would happen all over for many days.

Depends on the size of the eruption. Projections are that in the event of a big one, both the Tomei Expressway and Tokaido Shinkansen would be cut, that Haneda and Narita would be forced to close due to the ash, and that the cleanup would take months. A story in Aera magazine last month said there's a chance Fuji could even explode, as did Mt. St. Helens in the U.S., ruining the symmetry and leaving it several hundred meters lower.

One of the best scenes ever. I love both Mt. Fuji and Tokyo Tower. Undeniably, two unique symbols of Japan.

It's a shame all that clutter is blocking a beautiful view of nature. While Mt. Fuji and Tokyo Tower are both symbols of Japan, I find it hard to call a concrete jungle 'beautiful' (maybe if I were an engineer -- but then I'd likely think the city/tower more appealing than nature). And anyway, it doesn't really 'capture' the tower... just a part of it.

Regardless, I've never seen this scene while in Tokyo either.

Beautiful! Frames perfectly the contrast between traditional and modern day hustle bustle of the concrete jungle life in Japan. Or Tokyo anyway.

LOL at some posters talking about eruptions and suchnot! I think sometimes we`ve all got shaky shakies and volcanoes on our minds!
