    Inside at that place is passable, but the penguins outside are kept in terrible shape. I talked with the management about it, but only got a lot of air being sucked.

    You dont see a gorilla walking into a fancy dress shop asking for a gorilla costume... Its already got one... It's a symptom of people thinking animals are 'things', a fashion statement or a 'thing' to make them feel better or go, 'Ohh, how cuuute'. No, it's an animal. living entity with, believ it or not, rights. Whether its Paris Hilton with a dog that looks more like a rat or people with nothing better to spend money on it's so 20th century. Give the money to charity. Not a poor penguin parade and leave the goddamn penguins alone or any other animal for that matter. All animals deserve respect. They are not only in the world, they are aware of it. What happens to them matters to them. Each has a life that fares better or worse for the one whose life it is.

    Anyway, I'm with YongYang and the others that this is really just cruelty forgiven by some because it's 'kawaiiiiii!!'. Zoos in Japan are pretty substandard as it is, doing this does nothing to make them any better.

    Jackass penguins dressed up in Xmas gear? Wouldn't surprise me to see a Polar Bear at the Asahiyama zoo donning a Santa Suit on JTs pic of the day tomorrow - all in the name of Kawaii Ku-risu-masu!

    Zoos in Japan are pretty substandard as it is, doing this does nothing to make them any better.

    Agreed with Smith - this just re-inforces the notion of wild/exotic animals as being objects for us to toy with. If society MUST have zoos - make them reserves with space for the poor creatures to move around in.

    We should learn from American government a little (but not too much), "we don't care what you think, we will do whatever we want to do".

    I know this is very non-PC and on the whole I am totally against animal cruelty - but I dont honestly see any cruelty here, and as much as I cant normally abide the cutesy cutesy animal crap that goes on here - this picture is actually pretty cool! (no pun intended)
